I have seen that some people will purchase 1 AP so that they can get AP rates at the WDW hotels. This is a good idea.

My question is, can you purchase a Childs AP and do this, or do you have to purchase an Adult AP?

Thanks,

Mike in the Maritimes

The AP holder's name must be on the reservation. Since a child cannot make a hotel ressie, you cannot technically use a child's AP to get AP rates at a Disney hotel.

It has to be an adult 18 or older. We ran into this question on a family trip. I had to go to check-in for my in-laws and couldn't send a teenager with his AP to go ahead with grandma and grandpa. I didn't think I could, but other family members, who shall remain unidentified, insisted I call and ask.
