I just got off the phone, was hoping to book 1 night prior to our DVC stay. She said the rates came out about 50 minutes ago. Also said she can't believe Mousesavers did not have the news on their website yet! LOL!
Humm....this is starting a trend here. Not sure I like the way they are giving discounts. First, the deluxes at Epcot, then the Value standards. I bought APs last year, in the hope we would be able to take a few trips this year. Well, I have yet to make a trip. These discounts look very discouraging. The discounts in the past have been an very nice added bonus, but they seem to be the same or near same as AAA.
Well, hopefully, I will make it back before 9/29...when my pass expires.
I just plugged in 4 nights at CR mid-week in August and the only availability that they are showing are for either Bay Lake or MK view tower rooms. I then went to see GF for the same dates and they only have Lagoon view available. BWI has standard available plus a few other views. Poly only has MK views coming up for the same dates as well. Those are the only ones I've played around with thus far. The discounts don't nearly seem as deep either as the July AP discount.
I had a AAA rate for two nights, Contemporary, Tower room, Magic Kingdom view and the total w/tax was $729. Just changed it to an AP rate and the new total w/tax is $691. I guess every little bit helps.
I just got off the phone with Disney and was told the AP rate is only for BC, YC, and Boardwalk. Also Old Key West Studio only. My dates-August 19-27 BC was not available which was the only one i was interested in. I'm going to keep my free dining Poly reservation.
I was able to apply the AP rate to our 8 night stay at the YC. It saved us about $20 off of the AAA rate. With tax, the AP rate is $328 per night (water view room).
I tried applying the AP rate to our Poly reservation (we are going there after the YC) and the CM told me the AP rate was more expensive than the AAA rate we already have. When I got off the phone I realized that is becuase we are staying through 9/2 and the AP rates only go through 8/26. So she was probably taking the AAA rate off for the whole stay at the Poly and applying theh AP rate for only the first three days - giving me rack rate the last 4 days.
Question: Can I apply the AP rate to the first 3 nights at the Poly and keep the AAA rate for the remaining 4 nights without risking having to move mid-stay?
I just changed our AAA stay at CSR and BC over to AP rates. Thanks for the heads uP!!! CSR was $105 before tax and BC $230 before tax, so I saved another $275 over my AAA rate. Nothing like a "The August AP rates are out" to wake you fully up in the morning!!!
I was kind of surprised that the AP rate was not much better than the AAA rate. Last time we went to WDW, the AP rate was more than double the AAA discount. Still, I'll take it.
