AP RATES ARE OUT (Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec 08)!!!!

I am on the phone with them right now and she is saying there are no AP rooms at the Poly, GF, Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge for my dates December 2nd through the 10th.

All I can say is I guess their business is great and they don't need to discount much right now. Considering the slow economy they really must be doing something right.

This is kind of upsetting but I do understand AP rates are never guaranteed, but since this is day 1 I thought I'd at least get something in the MK area. Oh well, there are other places to take vacation, maybe we'll try something new. We'll see what DW says.

Hmm...I was a little disappointed that our discount wasn't great, but now I'm just glad we were able to get one. We saved about $135 or so for our 9-day stay at ASMu Thanksgiving week. It will pay for most of our MVMCP tix, or a TS meal, so I'm happy now.

Just called... AP rate at CR (MK view) was $440 (including tax) for October 22 for 5 nights.... so that's probably less than $100 off the rack rate I think. Rack is $465 + tax. Is tax 12%???

So we kept our bounceback rate which is only $325.50 ($366 with tax). A much better bargain!

While I think all of us are a bit disappointed in the discounts offered, I really doubt that very many people buy the AP for the discounts....it's a perk (and not even a promised/guaranteed one!). If you're going more than about 10-12 days a year, then the AP is a very good discount over the regular admission tickets. THAT is why most people buy the AP.

And hey....I figure I saved $222 (or an average of about $10 a day for our visit), so that would have paid for half of my AP. Since I would have bought the AP anyway.....it's $222 more in my pocket to spend (or save for next trip).

We're staying on site this visit, because we want to experience that....but if the prices continue to be this high, and discounts this low, then next visit will be offsite so that we have all the comforts of a larger space and lower price. We rent a car anyway, but at these prices, I could be staying in a 2-3 bedroom condo/house, plus renting a car and breaking even with staying on site.

Is it any wonder that offsite is growing ever more popular? I just hope that popularity doesn't equate to higher prices!

Well, this is the second time this year, that I cannot get any decent discounts with the AP rate, and althou I know it is not written in stone to get one, after 12 years of having an AP pass and getting a discount, for me they go hand in hand. I get a room discount and come more then once a year! It is worth it to me to buy an AP, now second time in a few months...no rates and I had to join AAA to get a decent one. So in the long run, if others think like me, I will not renew my AP which means a lot less trips etc...
Disney will financially notice that after some time if others follow suit. So with not offering the discounts, it will hurt them in the long run!

Being that when I do disney, I go first class all the way and drop a lot of cash!
oh well, I will just buy all new furniture!

So, since the AP discounts came out today and there is very limited availability, I was wondering if there will be any availability on Disney VISA codes hopefully coming out Thursday. Would seem odd that they'd open up rooms for VISA discounts.

My first call this morning resulted in my post above. The CM I talked to sounded a little clueless so I waited an hour and called back. This time I was offered BOTH POR and CBR with the discount. I changed from POFQ to POR and saved a total of $200 off of my original AAA discount. Not much, but it's something.

If you are being told there is nothing available, it might be worth it to call back and try another CM.

Why do they even bother offering the AP rates? There is hardly anything anywhere? The only thing offered to me week of November 17th is Old Key West and Saratoga Springs. No thanks.

OMGosh...so limited I could not get anything for Dec7-12th had to take YC for 7-11 (only other choice was a more expensive BC room)...No BWI,Poly or anything else. Luckly I have a standing WL ressie that I can work around.

Still nothing available for the Polynesian. Not even for concierge. DF said we'll still pay rack rate since it's for our honeymoon. But, still ouch at the rack rate for a Garden View room.

This happened this am to the other family in our Magical Gathering. They told her she could only get the discount for 1 day. I got the ap discount for the entire time. She called back later and got another CM and got the AP rate for the entire stay. Our dates are 11/1 - 11/10. We saved $300 off our stay and were able to add dining.

I saved $542.22 for 8 nights at POFQ, Dec 13-21 and that was almost $350 over the AAA rate and I didn't have to buy the extra tickets, which saved me another $300.

Just hung up with CM, she's telling me that the only ones available for the week after Thanksgiving is DYC and CBR. Anyone know of other places that are available? I'm gonna call back in a while and try again, she at first denied there even being a new code out, so I had to convince her to try the new ones!

Any ideas out there for me to try? I already have a AAA rate to FW Cabins, just trying to save some money!

I found it odd that we could get a discount at any mod we wanted for our dates but NO deluxe. I am starting to think that the deluxes havent been loaded in yet? Seems weird to me. And to the CM.
