Will they ask me for my AP at checkin? We don't plan on going to the parks the first day so we wanted to wait until the very last minute to buy them so we could get the most days out of them. (we will be returning around the same time next year).

If I have to buy it before I arrive at the hotel, I will, but I would prefer to wait.

They may, they may not. But they have the right to. I'd say have it in hand before you check in to be sure.

I purchased my A/P last week, this week received a letter and a card that I can exchange for my "real A/P" when I get to WDW. I will be in WDW in Aug. the card is good for one year from activation date not date purchased.

I would at least have the voucher in hand. There have been times that we have been asked and a few that we haven't at all, but there was never a problem with having just the voucher.

I too had a reservation with the AP rate in April at the Beach Club Villas. I was told by Disney that I needed to have my AP in hand in order to check in and get the AP rate, which was impossible since we were landing at 12:30 a.m. and couldn't activate our voucher until the next day. They told me that technically they could charge me the full rate for the first night and after I received my AP could get the discount for the remaining nights. As it turned out, they NEVER asked for my AP at check in, nor at check out, or anytime for that matter. I even asked during my stay if they needed a copy, and they said no. This was contrary to everything I had been told up to that point, and I guess I was lucky. Perhaps checking in during the middle of the night made the difference, though we were the only ones at the hotel desk at 1 in the morning, so we definitely had the undivided attention of the girl at the desk. I know this really doesn't help you too much, but I just thought I'd share our recent experience with you. Have fun! princess:

We showed our voucher when we checked in at the Poly in June. We didn't activate it until the next day at MK. :earsboy:

Our experiance with this has been hit or miss over the years. We were on every stay at the AKL but I cannot remember ever being asked at another resort.

We have visited eight times over the last five years, and have never been asked to see an AP. With all of the recent changes, this may not be the case anymore. :sunny:

We were asked on our last trip for our AP at check in. I would have it in your hand when you check in. You wouldn't want to be charged rack rate. You can buy APs at the airport in Orlando.

I had to show mine when we checked in at BVC in January.

Yes. Athough, sometimes they may not. Definitely bring it with you. If you do not have it and they cannot locate it for you, they will charge you rack rate.

In May POP and AKL never asked to see my AP. It really depends who is at the check-in desk.

From www.mouseplanet.com today

"On annual passholder discounted room rates – When checking in for a stay using the Annual Passholder discount rate, front desk staff are not only checking for valid Annual Passes, but are actually writing down pass numbers. "

Report apparently from someone staying there.

This is Disney, so who knows??! We were running more than 7 hours behind our original schedule when we checked ino AKL in May. Dh decided to take a chance and head to our resort before activating our new AP's. The CM helping us said she could see on her computer that we had purchased AP vouchers. She didn't even need to see our actual vouchers. But, at the end of the week when we added on two days and stayed at CSR, we absolutely HAD to have our activated passes. Lucky me got sent running out to the car to retrieve them. This was especially strange since the CM helping us could see that we'd spent the previous 8 days at AKL. Wierd.
