A question from a newbie..

This is our second visit in two years, and I thought I have learned as I booked our room and tickets seperately, but obviously the bookings were done before I discovered this forum.

We will be going to WDW from 07/01 to 07/09 and will be staying in PC from 07/01 to 07/04 and in BWV from 07/04 to 07/09. I booked BWV from ebay. I have already bought the Park Hopper Plus instead of the AP because I know we will take at least 2 days away from the park. My DDs are 5 and 3.

Now that I found out the special resort discount for AP rate, I like to know whether it is possible to buy an AP and reserve for a
room using the AP code, but without activating the AP. I don't think I will take the kids out during the school year, we will most likely be returning in 08/2005. Therefore, can we use the AP to get a discount for resort this July, but begin using it next August?

The saving for the 3 nights may not be much for the stay in PC, but if it is possible, I would move it to a moderate resort. We stayed in CB last year and the kids really liked the pool.

Thanks
Felicia

They may or may not check, but (if the savings are great enough) buy the AP and activate it if you have to. Then use it that week and save the hopper for a later trip.

The big thing with the AP (if you plan on going once a year) is to reverse those months...

Go August of this year (I know its too late for that now) activate the APs and go the following year (at least)1 week eariler and reuse the same tickets.

Thanks for the quick response.
I just found a discussion in "Diseny Resorts" forum on activating the AP rate with voucher. Seems that I will only get a voucher if I buy a AP now. But they also mentioned they may or may not check the AP.

I had considered reversing the month and was the reason I planned the visit for next year to be in Aug, then hopefully July in 2006 :Pinkbounc Given July 4 is the second week of summer vacation, it is unlikely we will return earlier than July next week.

Now I will have to recalculate the budget, :) If I were to reserve in an AP rate, and they are supposed to check AP, hence I should have plan for the "worse".

Since there is no advance purchase "deal" on AP's , think about this...how much will you save by booking your resort at an AP rate? Figure out the difference in cost between an AP and your park hopper. If it's cheaper to have an AP with a resort AP rate, go to a park when you arrive in Orlando, NOT your resort. Go to guest services and tell them you want to buy one AP, and use the value of your unused PH to pay for your AP. You can do this at guest services, NOT THRU THE REGULAR TICKET LINES. then you can use the AP like a PH ( I know, this is reverse logic) with the rest of your family. If you are saving money overall on the cost of your vacation, who cares if you don't go to WDW again before the AP expires? (That's a theoretical question...it'd KILL me to have a valid AP and not keep using it!) Actually, if at all possible I'd consider getting APs for everyone at Guest Services, using the already paid PHs as trade in, get the AP rate for this summer's vacation, and then rescedule next summer's vacation for late June instead of August.
