I was finally able to get an AP rate for a Boardwalk Villa one bedroom in November. The rate during value season is 35% off rack rate.

I have the entire trip booked under the Fairy Tale package (8 nights w/UPH) and comparing it to the AP rate for the room plus half the cost of premium annual passes (used for 2 trips), I do save $58 with the AP rate. There is a risk in that I may not get an AP rate for my trip next year, so the $58 savings is not enough for me to cancel the FT package.

You would need to do your own calculations and make a decision based on your circumstances.

Good luck, John

I have been trying desperately to change my FTP at BWV to AP rates. Did you have to keep calling? I would really appreciate any ideas you can give me on how to do this!!!

I presume that the AP rates work out better for you or that you have AP's already.

When you call you normally say "I'd like to check November 1st for five nights". If they say it's not available, ask them to check each night individually. Book the nights that are available at the AP rate and keep calling for the other nights. Don't cancel the FTP until you have a complete AP reservation.

I was able to book the middle 6 of 8 nights at the AP rate. I booked the first night at AAA rate and the last night at rack rate. I have three reservations and I have to keep calling to get the first and last night at AP rate and then have them combine all three into one.

You have two weeks to give them a deposit before you lose the reservation. In my case, I had to give three deposits. You can get the deposit back when you combine the reservations or you can just apply all the cash to the one ressie.

Another calling tip - some CMs ask for all of your personal info (names, ages, address, phone, etc.) before they'll check availability. They don't need that personal info to check. Ask them to check availability before taking the personal info. It saves everyone a lot of time.

Good luck.

True but you will already have your park passes so even if you can't get an AP rate on the room you still won't have to buy park passes! I think there is a lot better chance of Disney offering AP rates or some other discount on rooms next year then there is of them offering something like the FTP that was offered this year.
I could be wrong because I only read the threads briefly (I have an AP so it does not relate to me) but aren't the new packages that are being offered for the fall already not as good as the orginal FTP for this summer?

JohnNJ -

Thanks for your tips! I will keep trying.

I am in NJ, too!! I guess the BW is in our blood!

DeeP: You make a good point. I'll keep trying for the other two nights. It's all academic if I don't get those.

deanna2426: The rest of the world doesn't get the concept. They go to the beach. We go down the shore. :smooth:

If you don't mind, can you give me an idea of the rate you were quoted for the villas?

It was $283 a night which includes the 11.5% tax. Rack rate for value season is $390 without tax.

Hey Deanna:

Keep trying. I just called and added my first night at AP rate. Yesterday they didn't have that night available at that rate. Now I only need my last night at AP rate and I'm done.

Good luck.

JohnNJ-

I am so happy for you! I'm still trying, but so far no luck! I have until the end of Sept. for my final payment!

We went down the shore yesterday and it was gorgeous! Hope to get a few more days in before summer is over!

Thanks for the encouragement!

I've been calling since the AP rates came out and Stella at CRO got me 6 out of 8 nights. Jude got me the first night but couldn't get the last night at a discount. I kept checking for that last night and they said it wasn't available at a discounted rate.

This morning I spoke to Violet who also confirmed that the room was not available for a discount for that single night BUT she went above and beyond and asked if I had an existing reservation. She brought it up and tried to add the last night at the discounted rate and it worked. I now have all 8 nights at the AP rate.

I called guest services to let them know how happy I was with the way Violet handled the call. I spent 15+ minutes on hold for guest services but I thought they should know when a CM does such a great job.

Here's a little tip for those still calling - I call twice this morning before I got Violet. The first CM really didn't know what the heck she was doing so I hung up and immediately called back. The second CM said there wasn't any availability at the discounted rate for that night and hung up. I called right back and got Violet who made the whole thing work out and turned it into a magical Disney day. My advice is to keep calling. It seems there's alot of boneheads answering the phones at CRO. Eventually you'll get a star like Violet (and Stella and Jude).

Good luck.
