AP rate available after CRO hours?

I'm wondering if you can walk into a resort and book an AP rate (if available) late at night.

We're driving this summer, and what if at 10:30 pm we decide to NOT stop overnight and arrive at Disney around 2 or 3 a.m. Since CRO would be closed, could I get the AP rate at the desk?

I know we'll probably have a good idea by early evening if we're going to make it all the way, but just curious if you can book deals at the check-in desk.

You should be able to do so. The resort should have all pricing available. Of course, you run the risk that no rooms subject to the AP rate are available when you check in, so you won't get it. All promotions, including AP rates, have only a certain number of rooms designated for them; you can't get it just because the hotel has a vacancy if the promotion is sold out.

Right. I know that only a certain amount of rooms are available per discount, but I just don't know if a front desk only books rack rate, or if they can apply discounts at check-in.

I wonder if say Animal Kingdom Lodge has the resources to check for a room at All Star Music or something if they don't have a discounted room left.

Hmmmmm now I can think about where to add my extra night...

No. The resorts can only sell you rooms at full rack rate.

AP rates (and all other resort discounts) HAVE to be booked in advance.

And WDTC packages have to be booked 2 days in advance.
Although hopefully a room only rate is available. However that just depends on availability for that discounted rate. There may be rooms available. Just not at a discounted rate.

Actually for packages, it's 3 days in advance. Why not just call on your way down?

From what I have seen it is 2 days for packages. (3 days to add a dining plan onto a package.) I suppose it depends on what they consider 2 days. 2 full days. 48 hours to check in.
Cannot say from personal experience as I have not tried booking any travel package that close to arrival.
Probably OP was not expecting to book a package the same day anyway.

We got stuck last week due to bad weather and our flight being cancelled. I called from the Airport and was able to book a room that night with an ap discount at pofq. We didn't like pofq so they moved us to Akl. I was still able to get the ap discount. I was told by the cm at the front desk that if we needed to stay another night to call the res number because they could only book us at rack rate. To answer your question yes you can book a reservation at the last minute with an ap discount, but you need to call.

Thank you! I just wanted to know if I had to call, so I'll be sure to make the decision before CRO closes. Can't wait! Only 2 more months!

Unfortunately no the CM at the resort is not able to do this. I walked into the Pop for a one night stay (end of a business trip) and actually had to step out of line - call CRO and then walk back up to the CM and check into my room

If you have access to the internet you can always book Annual Pass rates online 24 hours a day when they are available, so is that something you would be able to do?
