AP rate and checkin?

We are purchasing an AP once we arrive. Do we need it at checkin? We have an AP rate for RPR. At Disney I have been allowed to checkin and bring it back to the front desk after I have purchased it, will they allow that or do I need to plan to purchase it before checkin? Thanks!

You can checkin and show them your AP once you collect it.
