I am going to purchase a weekday pass but wondered when does the pass start? Is it from day of purchase or first day of use?

They start from the day their first used or activated. When you buy it it's not yet activated (unless you buy in person), you'll activate it at the parks or at Disney Springs

That depends on HOW you buy the AP.
If you buy the AP in-person at WDW, it will be active starting at that moment, whether you go into a park or not.

I don't know if its possible to buy that kind of AP on-line, or over the phone, but if you do "order" the AP, it will NOT become active until you go to a WDW ticket booth or Guest Relations with your Florida ID and "activate" the AP at that time.

Thank you, I am going to buy it online now and hit the parks in late September. We plan to buy them in full, no monthly plan. I just want everything in order and hopefully there won't be a price increase.

If you buy an AP on line now, it doesn't matter if there is a price increase before your trip.
(Unlikely there will be one, regardless.)

By buying now you will lock in your price. Your time will not start until you go to the park to activate it
