Is it still the case that you can be eligible for the AP rate, even if the only person in your group with an AP is a child, so long as that person is on the reservation?

I saw some posts below indicating that the passholder needs to use their credit card to get the room, but it appeared this was only for reserving multiple rooms.

Second, with the elimination of BRP, can you now call and reserve an AP rate even before you have purchased the AP, as you used to be able to do?

This is what the AP webpage says:

Important Details
Passholder must present his or her valid adult Pass at check in. Additional per-adult charges apply if more than two adults (18 or older) per room. No group rates or other discounts apply. Advance reservations required. Offer will also be made available to certain non-Passholders in other select promotions.

So the website does say adult pass is needed. However, the rule has always been that the passholder must be staying in the room to get the discount, not neccesarily the person paying.

You can call now or book online when the discounts are available. There is nothing available after June 3rd.

If you book online then, yes, the passholder must put their credit info in for the reservation, since you have to log into the passholder site and then into the disneyworld site to make the reservation which is all tied to the passholder's personal information.

I think since that entire Best Rate Program thing came (and went :thumbsup2 ), the child's AP will not get you the AP rate on the room. I do think it must be an adult. That was part of the reason they did the BRP. They were trying to put a stop to guests getting a child's AP (lower price) and getting the room discount (when you know the child did not book the room). I would not take that chance. The only way to be 100% certian would be to call CRO yourself & ask them outright. Again, I think they will say a child's AP will not qualify for the room discount.

Thanks. I think we're going to wait until we get there to buy our tickets anyway, so what I'll probably do is just try to check in without the AP and ask them whether a child is sufficient. If they say yes, I'll buy the child pass, if not I'll buy the adult. It's kind of a break even -- if I have to buy an adult pass, I spend less on a child's MYW ticket. Actually, just thiking about it, it probably doesn't end up making much of a difference at all total dollar wise.

Something else to think about is the DDE card. If you would like to purchase this dining discount card, the AP holder has to be an adult. It's a nice perk.
