AP Questions: website access and voucher expiration

We are thinking of buying AP for our Oct trip. Is it possible to purchase them now and have access to the AP website? When would the voucher they give you expire?

I'd love to be able to buy MHT tix and possibly take advantage of any AP discounts at resort hotels. I wouldn't activate the pass until Oct, though.

Does this make sense?

I don't understand this part: "I'd love to be able to buy MHT tix "

Oh, Mickey's Halloween Treat! OK. :)

Some people have reported being able to use the numbers on their voucher to start an online account. Others can't. I think that *maybe* the ones who buy the vouchers from disneyland.com were the ones who could do it... Otherwise you have to wait for the account access until after you get your AP card in hand to put the numbers from the back of the card into the system.

The vouchers do expire, there's a post from last night, but added to today, about the voucher expiring. BUT that the CMs she called said they would take it as it is a guideline. Of course, as with all guidelines, sometimes answers will change...

As for using the AP discount for the MHT purchase, I just don't know about that. You can book hotels using the discount before getting the AP (just have to get it that day), though sometimes reservations CMs say "no". (again, troubles with guidelines!)

Hi... I just noticed that my DH's AP voucher had an expiration date.. I was really nervous about this and called guest services at DLR. Elizabeth told me that the date was a guideline as to when they would like you to come in and activate the pass. She said that we would still be able to use it but if a CM did not know about the "guideline" policy then a supervisor would be able to help us.

I have always had to show my AP when checking into the hotel, but they have never asked me for my AP number when making my reservations... So, you could book the hotel and then have your AP ready for check-in.

To purchase MHT tickets you need to enter your ap number. You also need the number on your card to get the website.
Usually if you purchase an AP voucher they expire the 1st of jan 2009.

Thanks everyone! I had seen the post on the voucher expiration, but wasn't sure how long they lasted. I might try to buy the AP and see if I can get the website access before our trip in Oct.

Appreciate the help!

What does access to the website get you? Is it something I would really need before my trip?

Does this apply to tours also? So, I can't get a discount on tours, parties, etc unless I actually have the AP? I was hoping to upgrade at the park. I guess I assumed that it would be like hotel reservations. You can book it for the AP price without proof, but have to show the card when picking up tickets or checking in. Thanks for the help!

I was hoping to access the website so that I could look at deals and get access to ordering the Mickey's Halloween Treat tickets when they are available (two months sooner than to the general public).

I'm not sure about getting the discount on the tours, etc. I would guess that it would be like the hotel?? Do you pay when you get there? Does anyone know about tours, character meals, etc?

THANKS!

are the mht tix cheaper that way?

During my March stay at the DLH, I did have to give my AP number when I made the reservations. I was using a special AP rate, however. I also had to show it at check in.

I don't think I had to provide my AP number prior to check in on previous trips, however.
