All:
Sorry if this has been asked before, but when does the date for an annual pass actually start? Does it start from the day you purchase it, or does it start from the day you first use it? My strategy on this is that we are going on May 5th 2004. I would like to purchase the AP now. If I can use it on May 5th 2004 and then return to WDW on April 26 of 2005 then I can get my use out of the AP. I hope that makes sense.

Secondly, I want to use the AP for booking AKL hopefully when the AP rates become available. Can I book with the AP rates even though I haven't used and activiated the Annual Pass?
I want to book AKL with the AP rate before I actually use the AP.
I hope this makes sense as well. Has anyone ever done this?
Thanks in advance,
ADP :D

Hi There

I bought my AP at the Disney store ... I recieved a voucher which will be activated when I get to WDW ... so my first day begins on my first day at WDW. Also, you can book AP rates without having your AP but make sure you have it when you are checking in at the hotel ... hope this helps :)

What is the advantage of buying them before you get to the park? Does it make the transaction go faster at the park? Is it so you can make hotel reservations at the AP rate (or can you still do this if you 'plan' to buy a pass before you check in).

If I understand right, we can get activated passes at the airport, right? We would be able to just go right in to the parks if we have these passes for the Disney store at the Orlando airport (I ask this because we are staying at the Hyatt the night before our cruise in the airport, and thought it might be easier to just get the passes then).

For westjones: you could buy an activated pass at the Airport. You could also exchange a voucher at any of the Guest Relations at the parks or Downtown Disney. Resorts don't sell the AP. If you have a DC membership, you could save $15 by buying the AP voucher at the Disney Store, and then activating in at WDW.

I purchased AP vouchers early to spread out my costs, and then to take advantage of a double points offer on the Disney Visa. Each AP was activated at one of the parks.

You can use your DC discount until 12/31 at any location where AP/PAP's are sold except online. It remains the only ticket media where you can still get your discount purchasing at the airport shops or at WDW itself. You are not limited to purchasing it in advance.

One advantage of purchasing an AP ahead of time is to guarantee the rate will not go up.

I'm planning to buy mine in December to take advantage of the DC discount and triple points on my disney visa! I don't know when my next trip will be but hopefully soon!!:D

That Triple Points from the Disney Visa Card must be regional. I just got my statement hoping to find info on it, but there was none. I looked on the website, but it was not under the current offerings for my card.

I don't know, I received a booklet in the mail called "Disney Rewards - Disney's Visa Cardmember's Guide to All Things Disney". It's several pages long and lists all special offers and has several coupons included.

Great thread! I was going to ask many of these very same questions and now I don't have to. Thanks!
