AP question

I hope this is the right place to ask this question but if not please move it to the correct one. Our AP's run out in Oct.(2015) and with all the changes not sure if we are going to renew them or not. AP room rates will hopefully be coming out sometime soon and my question is do I have to renew them before I book a room with my AP? We will be going the end of Feb. 2016 and had planned another trip in Oct. 2016 for our 26th anniversary but with the changes may skip that and go to Universal for the week instead. So do I have to have the AP in hand when I book or do I just have to have one with me when I check in to the hotel?

I will get another AP if I can get a room discount but will probably not renew if I can't. I hope that makes sense to everybody.

You just have to show the card when you check-in, or within a certain amount of time from check-in if you are getting the card for that trip.

Although since we got our room number texted to us and therefore didn't actually check in, and had no reason to visit the desk at check out, no one ever asked for our AP proof. I suspect with MDE they can keep track of who has the AP and who doesn't. If they really do keep track of it that way is another question. But you definitely don't need it to book.

This.

No longer any need to "show someone at the desk" your AP.
