I just booked a package for 9 nights at RPR Club Level. I got the 7 day park to park tickets which are $174 each for us. I am wondering if it would be worth it for me to get an AP for $229? We are going during spring break so there are no room discounts for us using the AP, but I wonder for $55 more, would we save that much in restaurant, merchandise, etc. discounts that I would get if I got an AP. Being there that long, we plan to eat a lot at City Walk. And i think only one of us needs an AP to get the discounts, correct?

There are 3 adults and one child in our group

Any guidance?

You pretty much get 10% off most places in and out of the park plus hotel restaurants.
I say it would be worth it and you then have an AP for another time within a year.

Thank you! I am really beginning to wonder now looking at that list. My daughter LOVES face painting. Also, if we spend $100 for 5 sit down meals, that pretty much pays for the AP right there in savings. I can't imagine us not buying any souveniors so that would be savings too. And it would give us incentive to go back within the year;) Can I add the AP once I am there, like Disney lets you do?

Yes, you can upgrade to an AP at guest services when you are down there.

Yes you can. They will take the full value of the ticket and apply it towards your AP. The AP start date will be the date you first used your ticket. Just go to guest services and they will help you.

We have been AP holders for years and its always great to have the extra discounts. Just remember if in the park and you want a drink, go into a counter service and get it there or gift shop because the carts do not give discounts.:thumbsup2

When you are buying anything just show them your AP before you pay, chances are there will be a discount. The only place that we go to that does not discount is Jake's American Bar in RPR. I don't know why either.:confused3

I forgot to add, even at the poolside at all three hotels accept it.

Great to know. I think I will be adding it. I didn't realize even the Counter Service places too!! And poolside! It really might be a good savings for us considering we will be there that long.

And only 1 of needs an AP to get the discounts, correct?

Yep, the person paying.;)

I am a FL resident and thinking of purchasing an AP. Is there much difference betweeen the 3 types of AP's? I can't see much difference besides the block out dates. Also, I noticed it said you get 10% or 15% off other park tickets. Does this mean I can buy a FL AP and then get 15% off by buying my family's other two FL resident tickets? And I think I read - but want to make sure...the free parking is at the parks, right? But not the hotels? Thanks!

Now that I am looking at it. I should really cancel our tickets - still 45 days out and just buy myself an AP when I get there and then save the money buying my families tickets using my AP. Looks like I would save $84 just by doing that and the increase in buying an AP is $55. So, I would be saving about $30 right there. Am I analyzing this correctly?

As far as i know, you do not get discounts on food at the pool area with the AP, and cannot remember if you get them at the onsite hotels, as i usually print coupons of for Citywalk and onsite restaurants, most coupons are for 20% which is better than the AP
check out www.orlandocoupons.com think they are up to end of June, but theis will be extended till the end of the year nearer the summer

Would not want to put you off buying an AP, as room discount would probably cover the price of it. i used mine mostly for the room discount and was more than happy with it, merchandise as well, so still the way to go IMHO,.

Just remember that the discount is off the full ticket price at the gate, which I believe is $184.99 for the 7 day. So 15% off that is still a good deal.

Robert, I'm almost positive I get a discount when we are at HRH Beach Club poolside. I could be wrong though.

The AP will cost me roughtly $55 more and the discount on other tickets for the family alone will save me $85. So, really, I guess it's a no brainer. the merchandise will just be an added bonus discount. I guess AP is the way to go! I won't get an AP room discount because of the spring break lock out, but maybe that will give us incentive to go back at some poin:thumbsup2t

buy the other tickets once you activate your ap.

if you have the AAA card, you can use that for 10% discount off of food and merch in the parks and citywalk.

The Universal site only lists discounts at the main restaurants of the 3 resorts (Trattoria, Islands and Kitchen). Does anyone know if you can get discounts at the other restaurants? For example, we are planning to go to Tchoup Tchoup, is there a discount there? TIA!
