Is the discount on the disneyland hotels enough to offset the purchase of an AP as opposed to a 6 day pass? I will be going the last week of April 2010, and the price difference will be about $200 between the two. If i can save that much between the hotel discounts and other discounts I will purchase one AP for myself, if not I will just stick with the park hoppers.

Thanks :)

well Expect to save at least $60 to $100 on the hotel. Then another 10 to 20 percent on food and merchandise. How big is your party? and how many meals do you plan to eat on property? Do you buy a lot of merchandise usually?

There are four of us going, and we eat most meals on property with two character meals. The kids buy a few souviners but not much. I'm just weighing out all the options. :goodvibes

Last week of April could still be considered spring-break-ish, so they may or may not have the big lovely discounts. But you can always get 10% discount on the disney hotels with the AP.

Deluxe AP (currently $269 I believe) gives 10% off most food.

Premium AP (currently 100 or so more than Deluxe) gives 15% off most food and 10% off most merchandise.

Depending on the restaurant and the CM, you can be subject to a minimum purchase rule to get the discount (usually $10 for those places and CMs who want to go by it).

The hotel discounts are the same from AP to AP.

You'll really have to wait until the discounts for that time period are announced to truly make the decision...

If you buy a Deluxe AP at Costco for $269 it includes a $50 Disney card that can be used on food and merchandise around the resorts. Most are going to spend at least $50 on food etc. so that makes the pass cost only $219. Or you can use the $50 towards upgrading to one with parking or to a premium AP. Either way the $50 savings along with hotel, food and merchandies discounts may make it more than worthwhile.
