Hi,

We used to be AP holders but they have now expired.

Our next visit to Orlando is March 2008, followed by July 2009.
So the 'extra year free option' is attractive to us.

However, US website says : "Passes must be purchased by August 31, 2007 and activated by September 30, 2007"

Do they get automatically activated on Sep. 30th? or do you physically have to be at the park before this date? on our old one's the date of activation was the first day we arrived at the park, photo taken and card issued etc.

I believe you have to physically go to the gate to activate the AP. BTW...unless you're getting the Premier Pass, your pass will look like a regular ticket. They no longer use the picture style pass for the PAP.

Back in 2004, We bought the 2 year pass in May with an activation date in June. We actually activated it in October that year but the expire date was based off the June date. I suspect that it'd work the same way this time for you.

Yes, that is how it works. You don't have to physically activate them but they will expire Sept. 30, 2009.

Sorry...I was thinking you had to activate them at the park...DOH! ;)

Well technically. you still need to activate them at the park. In cases where they have an expiration, if you activate them after Sept. 30, they will still expire on Sept. 30 even if you don't activate them until months later. I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for the replies, on the website once you click on 'begin purchase' you actually get more detailed information.

"2-Park Preferred Annual Pass

Get 2 years of park-to-park access to both Universal Studios Florida® AND Universal's Islands of Adventure®, FREE parking*, plus discounts on food, merchandise, and more!
Important Information:
If unredeemed, pass will automatically activate on September 30, 2007.
Pass expires 2 years from date activated or September 30, 2009, whichever comes first.
*Free parking is not valid on your first visit to the parks.
Flexible Payment option not available for this offer. "

So the passes auto activate on 30th Sept 2007 irrespective of whether you go to the parks before then or not, and expire 30th Sept 2009.

This is great for us because we go next March 08, and then July 09 so we can get the most of 2 years for our dates. :thumbsup2
