AP Question

Please excuse my ignorance but what kind of perks do you get when you buy an AP? Do you get any discounts for staying at Disney resorts (non-DVC)? This year will be our first time getting AP's. In fact, I've already got the vouchers and will be exchanging them when we go in June. We plan to visit WDW three times over the next year to use the passes (I can't believe we're going to WDW three times in one year ). For our trip in December we will be spending 5 nights at AKV on points, but I also made a reservation to spend one night in the lodge part paying cash. I got a AAA discount for one night, standard view for $184. I was wondering though if there was any AP discount that would be better. I can see me doing the same thing next May when I plan on us spending 5 nights at VWL.

The AP discount is about the same as the FL seasonal pass rate so you can expect to save close to 40% with the AP rate. At least that is what it has been in the past few years. The AP also allows you to get the DDE card, save % off of various stores in DTD.

Yes, there are sometimes AP rates on rooms. If you go over the the Disney Resorts/Codes and Rates board, there's alot of information--AP codes for the end of the year won't come out until the summer, roughly (there is a link to an AllEars thread that list's past dates the codes were released).

We're hoping for one for November for the Poly!

By the way, we were just at OKW this past weekend and we bought APs for all of us (me, DH and 2DDs). It really frees you to do whatever you want! We went into Epcot one night just for Illuminations, and we made a quick trip on the day of our departure to ride Soarin (twice) and Test Track!! IT's really Cool!
