AP question

I'm going to be staying at AKL on DVC points in Dec. Can I buy an AP when I check in? Can I then buy DDE? Thanks for any help.

If you want an AP and DDE, it would be better to purchase them both before you arrive.

APs may be purchased at any Guest Services desk (located at each Theme park and at DD - but not at the resorts). Once you have the AP you can call to order the DDE, but there will be a delay before you can actually get the card. If you order in advance, it may be picked up at one of the Guest Services locations at WDW.

I'd order both in advance. The DDE may be purchased over the phone using the AP voucher.

I agree with Doc to get them ahead of time. The AP doesn't start its life until you activate it, so you don't gain anything by waiting.

Also, as Doc mentioned, the DDE is purchased by phone...which means they have to be open. If you arrive outside of their business hours, you won't be able to get the DDE. But you can order by phone in advance and they'll have a temp card waiting for you at the Guest Services office at Epcot. The DDE expires about 13 months after they manufacture the card, so again you gain nothing by waiting 'til the last minute.

I'm not clear on ordering the AP with the DVC discount, but it seems to me I did that thru MS. If you HAVE to get it through MS, you have the same "they have to be open" situation you'll face with DDE.

You'll have to order your AP first. You will get a voucher number with that, and you can use that number to order the DDE.

You can buy them at Guest Services at the Parks. You'll need your blue DVC member card and a picture ID with your address on it. All adults will need a picture ID with the same address on it. We have gotten ours at the International Gateway at Epcot a few times.

Just want to emphasize that you pick the DDE temporary card up at the EPCOT guest services window. It's not available anywhere else.
