can anyone let me know if after sponsoring the required number of people do we need to go to dlrp in person a month before our APs expire to avail of the extra year? My French isn't great but I think that's what I'm reading on the sponsorship form?

Many thanks,
Deb

I've trawled through this whole thread but can't find an answer to this -
If you renew an AP, do you still have to wait 2 months to sponsor someone or can you sponsor straight away?
We're thinking of going with friends in May 2009 and we could sponsor them but it will likely be the week after our APs (which we haven't even bought yet, how's that for advanced planning?!) run out.

The current sponsor form expires as of today. Does anyone know where I can find a new version of the form???:headache:

Also. we are able to sponsor six people if anyone needs sponsorship. :)

Hi Britchic,

You have to wait one month after getting your AP, before you can sponsor someone else.

Hi Elaine
I know you have to wait when you first get it, but do you still have to wait one month after you renew it?

Ahhh I get you now - good question - I don't know the answer :lmao: !

I thought you couldnt sponsor if your pass had been renewed for free - so really you are buying a new AP every 2 yrs and getting a free one in between (hopefully)

Oh really? Don't think I realised that! So this is what we would be aiming for
17 May 2008 - buy 2 adult Dream APs and get 2 under 7's free
sponsor 6 people in the following 12 months
Will probably go in Feb 2009 and last week of May 2009. We couldn't sponsor our children could we because of the timing?
We will probably have 4 people to sponsor but they won't be going until last week of May I don't think. So we would have to be sponsoring them after renewal (and if DH & I couldn't sponsor because we'd renewed for free our kids could sponsor them) for the following year I guess.
It's all so complicated it's making my head hurt.:headache:

Thats right - if you sponsor enough folk in your first year of paid-for AP to extend it free for another year, you can't sponsor in that 2nd (free) year. Your childrens AP's, if you get them free when buying an adult one, can't be used to sponsor anyone.

Just to add something else to ponder - if someone has held an AP, you may not be able to sponsor them either, until their latest AP has expired more than 2 years prior to them applying for a new AP. The first people I gave my sponsor details to had this issue when they applied for their new AP's - they could get no sponsor discount as it had been less than 2 years since they last held valid AP's.

Oh now my head hurts even more!
OK. So presuming we sponsored 6 people before Feb, would we be able to go and renew in Feb even though the APs wouldn't expire until May? Otherwise we wouldn't be going back until 1 week after the APs expire. Or perhaps we could do it by post?

Just moving these as they are not requests for sponsoring or looking for sponsors :)

You can renew your AP by post - I have a Dream AP, and I will be renewing by post, whether I get enough sponsors or not before my AP expires in October.

I don't think there is any advantage to you buying an AP of the same type before your first one runs out, is there?

I'm intending buying a Francillien pass for DD when we are next at DLRP in June - but only because its the cheapest AP, she no longer qualifies for under-7, and we need it to be activated before our next trip to DLRP in mid-October (ie after her free Dream pass expires).

Elaine

Yes will probably renew by post. But I must remember all these questions to ask at the AP office when we go in May!

If you are not planning a trip within a couple of months of your AP expiry then you can post the forms to the AP bureau.

You need to wait until 1 month before your AP's are due to expire and send your exisiting AP along with the sponsor form :)
If you send it to early; as I did, the materials will be returned to yourself unprocessed.

If you only send the sponsor form without the AP then it will also be returned to you.
