I am in the early planning stages for our trip next year and was hoping someone could help me with these questions as I really, really want to stay at the DLH.

1) Do I need to purchase an AP ahead of time or can that be done at check in?

2) Where do I buy these - are they on the Disney website?

3) Once purchased, are the activated or are they activated when you first use them. (I would love to plan a girlfriends trip within a year of my family stay which would be 2006).

4) Do I need a specific AP/PAP for the purpose of hotel discounts?

5) Do you think AP rates are available (historically) for the very last 5 days in August which I believe is value season?

6) Do AP rates apply to 1 bedroom suites (we are a family of 6 and need a suite).

7) ANY idea of how much of a discount is typically offered?

Thanks to any and all for your help....I am a WDW nut and know so much about Florida that I feel very out of my element planning a Disneyland trip!

From the Disneyland website:

"Special rates, like "AP Nights," are available for all Annual Passholders Call (714) 956-MICKEY for rates & availability. Rooms available at this price are limited and subject to availability. Advanced reservations required. Weekend rates and other room rates will vary. Excludes Resort fees and taxes. Limit 5 people per room Restrictions apply. Valid Annual Passport required for reservations and check-in. Not valid with any other discounts or promotions. All prices and special offers are subject to change without notice."

I have made several Annual Passholder rate reservations recently, and have never been asked for my Annual Pass number. I have had to show my valid, active Annual Pass each time at check-in.

Current AP rates are good through May 31, and rates for August aren't announced yet.

Here is an example of some DLH AP rates for now:

Weekdays, standard room, open placement $119
1 bedroom suite, 740 sq. feet, $400
2 bedroom suite, 1100 sq. feet, $510. The suites have concierge level service.

GC rates are
Weekdays, standard room, open placement, $159
Weekends, $199
Suites are priced at about 10% off which is often the same or similar to AAA rates. 1 bedroom suite is $563, 2 bedroom suite is around $725. Concierge level service.

Of course, these are all based on availability and if you are going at a busy time, there might not be an AP room rates available.

I have read that you must present a processed AP at check-in, but I called today and they said they might make an exception if we get there late and haven't had time to process the pass(es). I'll have to call a couple of days before we arrive to double-check.

More GC AP rates (I know you want to stay at the DLH, but these might give you an idea, DLH will be lower)...

248 standard room, 297 theme park view, 383 standard room with concierge service

It seems to me as if they offer the lower rates first, then go higher as availability is lower.

I have a couple of AP questions too if you don't mind!

Can you reserver more then one room at an AP discount? I know at WDW you can reserve 3 rooms per AP. Does anyone know is WDL the same?

Do you have to buy Souther CA AP's at the gate? Can you get them at local Disney stores?

And finally, if you buy AP's at the gate, are they automatically activated?

Thanks for any help!
