AP Question - Do I Need a Separate Card to Get Discounts on Purchases?

We up graded our hoppers to Platinum APs last Oct, enjoyed Photo Pass but we weren't aware of any AP discounts on purchases. such a thing exists, correct? If I'm understanding some posts on this site, there's a card that must be presented to get these. Can some one clue me in on what is discounted and how to get them?

Yes,
You should have been provided with a yellow card with a Mickey head. You would have to present it, along with your phono ID to obtain any of the discounts. Most eateries/snack places and shops give a 10% discount.

I renewed my pass in August and didn't get a discount card this year. I get the discounts by using my AP and ID

When we had aps, the cm told me to go online and get my free magic bands. Cards came with the bands, bottom of box.

I actually didn't get a new card when I renewed, just a discount card, which is all you need anyway.

I didn't receive the "gold discount only AP card" with my most recent renewal and was told they are no longer using them when I inquired at guest services. I use my AP (the actual ticket) and my ID to get the discount as the MB itself isn't enough.

As others have stated all you need for the discounts is your AP card & ID. The yellow card was just an extra unnecessary thing to have carry around. I never used it.

Disney stopped sending a discount card with the MagicBands back in October when the pass levels changed.

I have the AP slider on my MB and that is usually enough. I know it's not the officially policy to just accept that but most times that's all the CMs care about.

The question for Bill is...did you get an actual ap card when you upgraded? Or was it done strictly through MDE because you already had a magicband?

That's the problem, I bet. Some are just being upgraded without being given any card at all. And with no more discounts card you can't get that, and then some CMs don't get it that you actually need some sort of card for the discounts. The PP is right; the slider isn't proof.

Same here. You will need SOMETHING. Either a discount card or the AP and ID. We have an AP and use that along with our ID. In all the purchases we've made I only had 1 CM who stopped me as I was getting my AP out and said, you have the slider, that's all I need. I would NOT expect that to work, at all.
