AP prices increased [6/18/2019]

Exactly... why see the real UK or France just spend 30 + thousand on time share and go to Disney for a minimal discount! I was done with Disney with the room checks and paying to park at resorts so this will definitely not change my mind ! I don’t get throwing thousands away each year on the same place ?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and choice of vacation. We've been to plenty of other places, but the family loves going to WDW. I factor in the cost of other activities as a basis of comparison. My son and his girlfriend recently took a train to NYC to see a show that has been out for many years and it cost almost $500 with dinner at a relatively inexpensive place. A family of 4 going to a sporting event can spend a considerable amount on tickets and food for a few hours. To each his own.

Super unpopular opinion but I feel like this is a serious first world problem reading through most of these posts. I get it, everyone loves Disney! I wish I could go multiple times a year or even once a year, but the fact is, I can’t. What’s wrong with going every three years or so and saving up? I truly don’t understand the big uproar. Lots of entitlement on this thread...

I think anytime you are discussing vacation/leisure activities or issues you can mention the "first world problem" phrase.

Also, I got my email confirmation with the code from Disney really quickly after my purchase from Tickets at Work.

Just a note, you will get one confirmation # and when linked in MDE you will be able to pick the people you want to link to based on the quantity purchased.

Same here! We were considering upgrading our 2 day ticket in July since we will go for a week in Spring 2020 and maybe another short trip—I don’t think we will get them now :(

We're planning on possibly 12 park days over the year. At the old price it would have been worth it and I was excited. Now, it doesn't look like it, and I'm sad that I'll probably never be an AP holder. Oh, well.

I guess that will remain to be seen. In the ensuing years, kids grow up, jobs change, life happens, etc and interests and incomes may have changed.
True but ppl love a “deal” & ppl who maybe felt they couldn’t afford it now then decide to try it it b/c the price is right. I think that’s how we got to the current crowd level situation. Some ppl started going for the first time when deals were good 10 years ago & now it’s become part of their lives.

I've searched everywhere I can think of and can't find the AAA page for an AP. I see regular park tickets, no AP. ugh....

Add a dummy profile in MDX and link. Then transfer later. Or, have guest services prioritize the 10 day over the AP.
I don't think it will matter. You have to actually go to a ticket window or guest services to activate an AP so scanning into a park won't affect it.

Then they spent to much ( and also peak season ) .. unless they are there for a month there is no reason to have to spend that much . Going on my second trip there in November for thanksgiving and taking our two kids ( adult and teen ) and even with them we paid less then Disney . The airfare on Virgin Atlantic ( 1300 total 4 people ) , two king rooms 2 minute walk from Westminster Abby ( 850.00 10 nights ) and London pass 100.00 ( get you in to all paid attractions ) . It sounds like she is staying in a super expensive hotel or flying first class to spend that much.
That’s my point. You can make a lot of destinations as expensive or cheap as you want (within reason) including WDW. I’m not thrilled by the price increase either b/c I was just about to upgrade in July. But, we are talking about a price increase to something that essentially is part of vacationing multiple times a yr. That is not what the average person is able to do. The average person/family vacations once a yr & to WDW every 4-5 years.

I bit the bullet and bought my AP from Sams. Saved $267. I got the pdf with the reservation number in about 5 minutes. Do I link that to my MDE account online?

If you haven't received your code to link to MDE - call. I called at 8AM eastern and had my PDF emailed to me within minutes. Linked the voucher in MDE, assigned one to myself one to my husband and they say they are good until 2030.

I don't get it, why not just buy 5 or 10 now then? The price will keep going up. Or can they possibly charge you the difference?

After I link my AP to my account will I be able to see the AP rates after the AP room offers are available?

It seems like that would work just fine and I think earlier in the thread I read someone had done that. I think most people just can't afford to drop 10k to protect themselves from future increases.

Yes, they have:

"We know how important making memories at Disney theme parks is to our guests and we will continue to evolve our pricing in a way that gives them a range of options to meet their budget and helps them better spread attendance throughout the year so they can make the most of every visit."

That's their story and they are sticking to it. :rolleyes1

Don't believe it for a minute, it's just the good feels reasoning for what they are doing. Given this is an AP price increase thread (of which I have had a decade) I will say I think their AP's are reasonable ... for locals. There are many of us who pay this AND bring them lots of cash via hotels and dining .. and I think it's many of those who are upset at the drastic increase in the last 18 mos. For say myself, 6 trips a year, hotels, food .... it adds up. So when you add up that kind of money that we are giving Disney, the price point now has us looking at European trips, cruises and other options that we had pushed aside because we committed to Disney.

Back to "their story" ... they raised the prices during peak times because just like their hotels and holiday meal pricing they know that many can only travel then and would pay the price no matter how high. Why not take advantage? For the low times when they keep the ticket lower priced ... it's because they haven't achieved their goal of full occupancy resorts and full capacity parks. The price is to entice more guests to come and spend more money. None of this is to spread crowds, most go when they can go and a varied ticket isn't going to change that. What it will do is put more money in Disney's pocket at all times. Varied pricing is just a good business money move.

I'm not anti-Disney, been going since it opened, have always been a stockholder, AP for long time and it's always my first choice of vacation destinations. But things have changed under Chapek, crowds have grown without the CMs to manage them, food is getting higher priced and worse tasting ... the list goes on and on. It's just a really big gut punch to the base. After 9/11 who was there, when the economy was down who was there, the AP holders are their base that get the basic financial needs met. We get very few perks. Parking is great if you stay offsite, agreed. Onsite rates? Last few years there were few rooms at great discounts and most my booking was via the General Public Discount. They offer an event here and there but those are only good for locals. I do get 20% shopping discount but honestly at Disney prices ... I shop at the outlet store or online sales. 10% off a few restaurants with inflated prices, it's Kohls sales.

This 100% is because EVERYTHING at Disney is going up drastically as we approach opening of Star Wars and the 50th. Hotels, Hotel Parking, Re-usable bags (dumb way to get folks to buy them), Tickets, Food ... As as stockholder I really hope this all works out for them. When the economy hits the wall (which most economists predict) I hope they hold on to enough of the base to keep fixed costs covered. But I'm not confident the parks will hold their own. Thank goodness the movie side is busting it.

PS After the AP increase was announced, my steady climbing stock took a small step back. Coincidence?

I got Platinum AP from Plum Benefits (Tickets at Work) at the old price too. Had my email to link vouchers within a few minutes.
The Tickets at Work APs are vouchers right? So I can let them ride until the end of next year?

Also does anyone know if the APs at Tickets at Work are the same price as Sam's (I don't have a sam's card).

Yes, same price. I received an email confirmation with a ticket voucher number (attached PDF), went into MDE link tickets. These are vouchers that have to be activated at WDW before entering the park and will not expire until a year after they are activated (or 2030).
