AP Price increase

That depends on your spending practices. Since the discount is 10%, I’d need to spend $1000 to break even. We eat breakfast in the room, and bring food for at least one other meal. We have our wands already, and don’t really buy souvenirs. I have a 5 day trip planned, and got the APs for the hotel discount and because 5 days of tickets were almost the same price as a seasonal AP was. No idea when or even if we’ll make it back. We will not spend close $1000 on food and merchandise on this trip, and there’s a pretty good chance we won’t hit that cumulatively. I’d rather have the money in my account than gamble on if I’m coming back or feel psychological pressure to buy things I normally wouldn’t just to reach the break even point.
I didn't make my point. You were talking about the $10 increase in the price difference. If you were already going to buy the more expensive pass for discounts....my point is Universal price increases of only $100 would offset the increase.

The parking perk may be significant for sime

No, your point was clear. My point is that we’re not big spenders to start with, so needing to spend $100 more to break even moves it from a “well, maybe...” to a definite no.

What are the resort savings with the annual passes? I am planning on getting them for DH closer to our trip, so missed the boat on the longer and cheaper variety of a couple of weeks ago. We are going for a week in May and have the savvy traveler rate of $256 + tax a night (approx). Should I buy the passes earlier and see what the rate would be with an AP rate?

Thanks so much for the link! Royal Pacific Resort has no availability but I could get Portofino Bay for the same price as what I have for RPR now. We have always stayed at RPR so I will have to go do some research to see if I should switch.

I appreciate your help!

sometimes the savvy traveler rate trumps the ap room rate
And other times it is just the opposite.

I’ve booked both ways

Last September 2020, I booked RP for my September 2021 stay as it was a better deal

I still watch the UO site in case there is a change in deal rates as I would go with the better room rate.
