The next October my girlfrind and me are going to spend 10 nights in WDW (7 nights in POFQ and 3 nights GF), firstly we thought to book a package with dining plan, but i think it is possible cheaper to buy one AP plus 10 days tickets plus resort staying (with AP discount), but what happen with the dining plan??

Is there any way to mix the dining plan with AP??

In my case, does anyone know any way to save more money??

Thanks

Several problems with your idea.

For the DP all people on the reservation must purchase the same type tickets on the package, and the dining plan is for the number of nights of the package. The rooms are at rack rate (or, at best, AAA discount)

Dining Plan is valid from the moment you check in until 11:59pm of the day you check out.

If you split your stay that is two reservations and there would be an overlap of dining on the day you check out of one and into the other.

Possibly your best concept is to get one AP and spend the $60 to get the Disney Dining Experience (DDE) card. Having an AP will allow you to get discounted rooms. The other person could get a ten day hopper. Note that the DDE is valid for a 20% discount on all food and beverage (including alcoholic) at almost every table service or buffet restaurant in the parks and resports, as well as CS in AK and food courts in the value resorts and POFQ (which does not have a restaurant).

Actually, they recently discontinued the discounts at the values and FQ. You may only use it at the TS restaurants.

We just returned from a quick trip for the preview of Expedition Everest and were able to use our DDE card at the Pop Century food court. This is because there is no sit-down dining available at the resort. We were also able to use the card at AK , for the same reason......no sit-down restaurant in the park itself. We were not able to use DDE at any of the other parks.

Bizeemom,

Thats what I read as well, but then so many people were coming back saying the food courts were still accepting the DDE. People called disney and they said the food courts were still accepting the DDE and last I read the offical list on the disney site has been updated to include the food courts again. I guess it was just an oversight

If I am understaning your question correctly: you can not combine an AP discount with the dining plan. The AP discount is a room only disount.
You could book the package with dining by buying a one day ticket for each of you and then buy an AP for yourself. You can buy a 9 or 10 day ticket for your girlfriend through ticketmania or another ticket broker and save some money there.
Book the package for your stay at the POFQ, and then get an AP disount for your stay at the GF..try running different scenerios to see where you might save money.

Just a heads up -- if you look at the most current list for DDE, it once again includes food courts at the Values and some Moderates. I have posted this info. on a few other threads as well. Looks like they updated the list right around Feb. 1st.

That's good to know. We were at Pop Feb. 2-5 and used our DDE card many times with no problem. We were asked for a picture ID at least twice at the Pop foodcourt (as we have been in the past).

As others have suggested, the DDE card would be a good way to go for you. We stayed at POFQ last summer, with AP and DDE and it worked out great. In fact, POFQ is a great resort to use the DDE at because you get 20% off the food court there and you are within walking distance (or you could take the boat or bus) to POR to Boatwrights which accepts the DDE too so you kinda double your discounted dining choices at your resort.

Also, the refillable mugs are great value at 12 dollars which will entitle you to free refills (coffee, tea, soda, hot chocolate) for the duration of your stay at POFQ and also you can use them at the food court at POR too because those are sister resorts.

The AP also gives you 5% off purchases at World of Disney and a few dollars (4 or 5) off Waterpark tickets.

I think the AP + DDE is an excellent way to go especially if you're moving to GF - you'll probably be able to avail of some great AP discounts at an expensive resort like that (and at POFQ too of course). Good luck!
