Hi all,

Am heading down in early May, and am trying to decide whether it makes sense to get 5 day PH or AP's.. With Me ,the Mrs, son#1 (will be 5yo), and son#2 (21 months)..So we'll need 3 tickets.

Depending on a lot of factors I'm thinking we have a 50-50 shot at going at least once again within 12 months. (We're in Northern Cali right now so would drive down) .

As am not 100% sure if we can make it down again, I'm toying with just getting one AP and 2 PH's to hedge my bets. Is there any drawbacks to getting just one AP?

For example, as I'm staying at Portofino, one I can see is that the one with the AP can't get into MM (aka EE)..

Thanks for any help!

"No MM" is the only draw back of one person having the AP while the others don't. You can get a PH for everyone and upgrade one to an AP for the discounts after you use your MM.

Your only drawback is not getting a MM with the AP, but you will get discounts with the AP.

So....

Get PHs for everyone.
Use your MM early in your vacation.
Upgrade to an AP.
Have AP discounts for the remainder of your trip.
If you decide before your vacation ends that you are going to come back, upgrade everyone else before you leave on your last day.

Whoa... You mean I can use a 5 day PH for 4 days and on the last day Upgrade to an AP..? No pro-rating for days used? COOOOL !

We also had a AP back 3 years ago.. should I bring that to "renew" or is it just easier to get a new one ?

Am one of the "under employed" group now after a lay-off last year .. so am watching my pennies. But, also hate to pass up the value if we end up going another time.

Thanks a ton for your feed back:thumbsup2

Double WHOA batman !

Just thought one of the days (saturday) I'll be there is a blackout day for the AP ..So That is BIG plus to get PH first and upgrade later if I can..

Said it before and I'll say it again..

:disrocks::thanks:

Absolutely you can upgrade later on. You won't retroactively get food discounts on things you didn't have your AP for, and it's backdated to the first day you use the ticket, but yep they take the amount you paid for your hoppers, and you pay the difference between that and the AP price. (so, FYI, no need to try to get a deal on the ticket you're upgrading, b/c you'll just pay the full cost of the AP anyway).

You could even upgrade on the very last day, if you wanted. Which makes it easier to decide if the family will upgrade; you should know a few days into your trip, just how bad the family might want to come back inside of 365 days from the first day you use the ticket!
