Hello to all again.. I'm getting my DL spirit back.. :woohoo: :yay: I just got a AP Deluxe from a Disney store and I got charged on tax. I was just wondering if this usually happens. Reason being is because when I got wazowskilover ( My Fiancee :lovestruc ) her AP Premium I wasn't charged for tax. I'm not upset or anything i was just wondering why this would happen? Thank you very much..

I don't know! I asked if there was tax on the Costco Deluxe Annual Passes and was told no. I wouldn't think they should be charging you tax on the pass at the Disney store if they don't elsewhere.

Glad your spirit has returned!!! :cool1:

Wooo! Welcome back!!

I don't think tax is charged? If you have the receipt maybe take it back after your trip and just say "I already took it and got my real AP card at DLR and yatta yatta but I noticed I was charged tax and I don't think I should have been..."

Even if it was a couple bucks, that couple bucks can buy you a churro!!! Or even 2 so you and Jasmine can have your own!! ;)

Thank you very much.. :goodvibes I was wondering where/who should I call just to get double check about this.. Thank you once again..:)

Did you purchase any thing else besides the pass? Were there any frebees included???

The Disney Store in the mall? There r not attached to Disney are they? Maybe they do charge tax cuz they r owned by someone else.:confused3

yea it was at the mall.. You might be right about that. I'm not really upset about it but i bought it for jasminea nd didn't get charged for tax, but i was just wondering.

Hey, that's over $20, right? I'd ask for it back! Costco sells passes/tickets without adding tax, and they aren't a Disney-owned company. I'll bet someone made a mistake. If not, it's good to let people know that you pay more buying tickets from Disney stores!

ETA: Not sure what the tax is where you are. It's 7.25% here, which would be over $67. At 8.25%, which is what it is in most urban areas, that's $22+.

My sisters also bought 3 day parkhoppers and they also got charged on tax.. Its kinda weird but I will call tommorrow to see what they say. Thanks Again Everyone. I love the DISboards.. haha:goodvibes :thumbsup2 :grouphug: :wizard:

We have bought ours at a Disney store in the past and there was no tax charged on them. The cost should be exactly what the ticket says. And, aren't all the Disney Stores owned by Disney now? They bought them back just recently as far as I know. :)

That IS weird. It sort of sounds like someone made a mistake, as others have said. They don't charge tax on tickets/Hoppers AT the actual ticket booths of Disneyland, and you would think they would try to do that if they could, so I don't know what happened at the Disney Store. Probably a Cast Member who didn't know the specific rules rang up the transaction and assumed tax was necessary. I mean, I guess if it is considered merchandise, they are entitled to charge tax on Hoppers/Passes but they can choose to exercise the option. Maybe the one who didn't charge you tax for Jasmine's AP was the one who made the mistake?? Hmmmm...Confusing! The darn tax where I am in L.A. is 8.25% and the tax at the Disney hotels is 15% - yikes!!!

I would definitely check with a manager on that. I had a terrible experience buying an AP at a Disneystore up here in Northern CA.

Since you're in So Cal could you take it back for a refund and buy the AP at Costco? They don't charge tax on the AP's they sell plus you'll get a $50 Disney gift card. With the tax you'll be saving and the gift card you'd have $70 to play with :)

Just a thought :goodvibes

San Jose isn't down south, it's up north. The Costco's here don't have that special price. I wish they did because we would be all over that!

Shyboy, I just wanted to say YAY that you're getting your spirit back!! so glad to hear that!! You guys are going to have so much fun!!!
