AP Parking Question

How does parking work with AP. I know it's included, but do you get a separate pass, do they just look at your AP or scan it? Does it have to match the car of the owner? We will have two cars when we go (one of ours and on of DD) and DD's family may go back and need to park when we don't want to; however, the AP is ours. Do you do fingerprints to park or will she be able to show our AP and park (not use the ticket to get in the park)?

They usually just look at it when you go through the parking booths.

Just show your AP at the booth and there's no charge. When you enter the parking area you park just like everyone else and take the tran.

Honestly they don't even ask to hold it. All I did was flash the ticket (which by the way is just a regular park ticket that says AP on the back) and they waved me through.

Your daughter will be able to use your AP for parking, however, since free parking is a passholder benefit you really shouldn't use it for parking two cars at the same time, or parking if she's in the park but not you. However, if you all drive in with her car then that's not a problem, or if you stay in the park and she leaves and comes back later that's fine too.

The only caveat with her leaving and coming back is that she'll have your AP, so you won't be able to get any fast passes or leave and re-enter the park (or hop to another park).

Note that if you guys are staying on site this won't be an issue at all because free parking is also a perk of staying on site.

If I'm understanding this correctly, you will have two cars and drive them both to the parks? You in one and your daughter's family in another? If that's the case, your daughter will have to pay to park. You won't be able to get out of your car and hand over the AP for her to use to park. If she arrives before or after you, it won't work either because one of you still wouldn't have the AP to park.

Now, if you are all arriving together in one vehicle, then it's not a problem. You, as either the driver or passenger in the vehicle, shows the AP. If your daughter and family leave later and come back, they will have the parking receipt and that's all they need to get back in for free. You will keep your AP with you.

Personally, I would hate to lose my AP because my daughter was asked to produce a driver's license matching the AP name....I know it wouldn't normally happen but you never know....:scared1:

This is not the case. When you arrive at a parking booth with an annual pass they just look at your AP and wave you through. You do not get a receipt in this case and if you leave and come back or go to a different park you need to show the AP again. The daughter definitely would need to have the AP in her posession if she needed to leave and come back.

Has anyone ever been asked to show ID withe an AP for parking? I can't think of a time in the last 12 years we were asked for it. Not saying it wouldn't happen, but 0 out of 40 or so trips we've not been asked for it.

I have never been asked to show ID with my AP for parking, not even at busy times like Christmas and Easter. I am always asked for ID when I park at Universal.

If you only have 1 AP then you can only get 1 car in for free. You get 1 parking pass for the AP - noit one for each car in the parety. When we have gone with friends and use our APs for parking DH will drive our car and I ride in the other car- so we can use 1 AP in each car. If the friends want to leave and come back then they have to pay for their parking.

Never in all the years of Disney travels with APs have we done anything other than show the AP. Some check the date more carefully than others but that is it.
