I'm new to the AP info but read somewhere it could benefit us since I want to stay BC conceirge. How do I find out about getting an AP and how do I find out rates for specific dates and do they offer them for conceirge? I think we have finally figured out our schedule and will go early next June. Our oldest daughter is at the Air Force Acadmey in Colorado Springs and she never knows her summer schedule until April or sometimes even May. (she only gets 3 weeks off during the summer) She is going to request off the beginning of June. If she goes we can use Military rate b/c she is considered active duty. When do those rates come out?

The current Disney Stars and Strips discount is not a guarantee to be offered again, as far as I know. But you can call Shades of Green and specifically ask if they have a discount or "overflow" rate at the hotel of your chosing.

Usually, there aren't any military codes available- There are special deals this year (good until 12/19/03) due to the War on Iraq, and there was one a couple years ago after 9/11; but usually Disney's CRO doesn't have any military deals available---So, I wouldn't count on one for next year.

You CAN get good rates thru Shades of Green (SOG); which is a resort next to the Golf course, about 5 minutes walk to the Poly (www.shadesofgreen.org)- and has rooms that are considered deluxe. They are being newly remodeled and will open this Dec. They take reservations 1 year in advance and OFTEN are sold out- so I would have your Daughter call now to make ressies there. (She could probably get deluxe accomodations for less than $100 night). Also, thru SOG She can make "overbook" ressies at other WDW resorts- the discounts tend to be about 40% off rack rates, and can be made at any time (ie. you don't have to wait for a code to come out)- Unfortunately - You can't book concierge thru SOG at any of the resorts (I've tried year after year), so you have to be happy with a standard/water view room if you book thru them. She can also buy tickets/APs at the SOG office (you don't have to be staying there to do this) at a discount.
You could also check Swan/Dolphin for a military discount- as they usually have one available- You can book a Club room thru them with that for about $200 night I believe (although I don't know if they've got anything as far out as next June in their system yet).
As far as AP discounts go - they usually come out in Mar/Apr. for June.
Good Luck!! Jill

thanks, that's a lot of information. I wish I knew my daughter's schedule for next year. It would make things a lot easier. What if she makes reservations and then we can't go because they have her busy? Can we just cancel SoG and switch reservations to somewhere else? Can I make double reservations for BC incase she can't go? Thanks for your help.

Yes and No - She can cancel SOG ressies 30 days out (She should have some idea if her leave chit will be signed by then); You can always make a back-up ressie at BC (with an AP code if one comes out), but she can't have two ressies booked (one at SOG, one at BC thru SOG) at the same time (I think - she could always call and ask). SOG takes her SS# when she calls and looks up her eligibility and records the ressies under that. She definitely has to be there at check-in if using SOG at any resort, but I think she can reserve more than one room (check the website).
I understand how hard it is not being able to have a firm grasp of possible vacation times- I just had to cancel our plans for early Dec. and switch them due to my Husband's military schedule being changed - even then, I won't know for sure until alot closer to the actual date - such is the military life I'm afraid! I'd go ahead and plan as best you can, and then go from there (she could always make 2 sets of ressies and cancel one once she learns what leave she is able to take)! Jill
