AP holders what do you do?

So with the rumors of the big discount tomorrow, I was wondering what to do if it's a package deal. Do you book the package and try to save the tickets for later use or do you pass and hope that the AP discount will be better? Or do you switch to a package and back to room only if AP is better? It's so confusing. Thanks.

BTW If tickets are not activated can they be used by anyone? My immediate family will probably go back to WDW at some point, but I don't know how likely it is that my mom will go again. (And we already bought her ticket for the upcoming trip.)

Yeah...I'm going back and forth on this right now...

We currently are booked for Jan. 1-5 at the Pop for the AP rate of 49 per night. We are gonna add the dining plan soon.

Unfortunately, I hear the dates for this big promo start on Jan. 4 so we're out.

We may book another trip in May just for kicks and save the 1 day base tix (probably what will be required to purchase the new package if it's like past deals) for another trip.

We are going back in Sept. for the Free Dining bounceback and got a 1 day base tix for that too. So that would be two tix to add towards another trip one day. From what I understand, if you don't use the tix then they are good as long as you hold onto them and don't use them. I don't know about letting another person use them...someone else may know that! I'd love to know too!

I run the numbers. I always go the cheapest route overall.

If the package is better than room only and there is no AP discount available, I book the package. Then if an AP rate comes out that is better, I switch it. No penalties until 45 days. Even then, I may still pay the penalty if the savings are considerable. If I do stick with the package, I save the tickets for a future visit. They will not expire at all until used. If I don't have current APs, I'd upgrade the tickets with the package (after using once).
