AP holder with a question

My mom is an So Cal select AP holder and is going on her birthday on the 30th. She was told that she could get a giftcard in lieu of free admission on her birthday. Is this true and if so, what (if anything) needs to be done before hand?!

Hmmm. I'm not sure how this works, since her SoCal Select AP is blocked out that day, so technically she wouldn't be able to get into the park without at block out ticket? Veterans, more info?

Something I just thought of.....Is the 29th blocked out on her AP? If it is, I'm not sure but, I think, she might only be able to get free admission for that day.

It is, I checked the chart. Might be worth a call, since a black-out pass is $45 but admission/gift card is $72. I'm not sure what they do in that situation.

Ok, I just looked & the So Cal Select pass is blocked on 12/29. This is what I found in the link I provided:

Q: What if I'm an Annual Passholder and my birthday falls on a day my Annual Pass is blocked out?

A: If your birthday falls on a day that your Passport is blocked out, you will be able to enjoy your birthday in the park with a 1-Day/1-Park Ticket. You can also use that ticket to upgrade to a park hopper ticket, to renew your Annual Pass, or to upgrade your Annual Pass.

Just found this in the same link:

Suppose you have an AP that is not good for admission on your birthday.
On another board, a poster suggested you buy a blockout ticket for $40 and then receive the $72 Birthday gift card free.
CLARIFICATION: It is now confirmed that you can buy a blockout ticket, then request the fun card.
