am i the only one who wasn't aware that if you're an AP holder, purchasing the DDP is not an option??? this is really frustrating to me.....i want the DDP for our trip in april and i can't get it. does anyone know anything different?

You have to book a package or stay on DVC points to purchase DDP.

You could book a package, purchasing a one-day pass to qualify for DDP (if it's worth it to you). You would then have the one-day pass to put towards a future pass purchase.

As an AP holder, you can purchase the DDE card, so you might want to look into that.

You can buy a one day base ticket and hold on to it and use it towards an upgrade when you renew your ap. Or you can rent DVC points. When we had an AP we used DDE.

The DDE also includes 20% off alcohol so it tends to be a good deal if you buy drinks. When we compared the 2 it wasn't much different. Don't be sad just think it helps you from overeating :yay:

so let me get this straight......

if i rent points from a DVC member, i can purchase the DDP (even if i'm an AP holder)? is that right? if that's the case, i don't have a problem because i rented DVC points for 5 nights to stay at SSR. i hope i'm understanding that correctly!

second question: i'm thinking about adding on a 6th night when AP rates come out just by booking through disney (not renting points for that 6th night). so would i still be able to get the DDP for the 6th day?

we seriously considered the DDE card. it's a close call, but i think we're going with the DDP. it makes more sense for us.

thanks for your help!!!

yes,

If you rent you can add DDP. But, if you add the additional night you can't add the DDP. We have the same thing in Nov. We are DVC and I added 2 nights over 11-22 and 23. and I can't get DDP for those nights. But, we just scheduled what we know are our cheaper places for that part of the trip.

If you rent from DVC it usually is still cheaper that AP discounts from what I have found.

Good luck

You will be able to purchase DDP for the first 5 nights then, but you have to let your renter know to add it to your ressie. It has to be on there like 2 weeks or so before you go down. You won't be able to get it for the night you aren't staying on points, though.

DVC members who stay in a DVC resort do not have to have any pass at all to puchase the meal plan, not even an annual pass. By renting a DVC member's points, this applies to you also, but every person in your party must purchase the DDP also for the same number of nights. If you rent a DVC room from Disney, you must purchase a pass.

Prior to becoming DVC members, we always had an AP. I just did like a previous poster suggested, purchased a one day pass for everyone in my party with no expiration date, and traded up to an AP when our expired.

I would look at the new DDP rules and what is covered and compare that to the DDE, which is $50 for AP holders, and you get 20% off your entire bill.

I know that we eat way more than we normally would even think of eating on the DDP, including snacks and appetizers and deserts.

AP holder and DVC member here and yes we can add the DDP to our reservation without any ticket requirements. You have to have the owner call member services and add it for you, then you pay for it when you check in. I talked to MS last week and she said you need to call 48 hours prior to arrival (though someone else said longer). No, only your DVC stay qualifies for the DDP, so your extra day is not part of it. Though we are AP holders, we sometime will book a package at a regular resort and get the 1 day ticket and put it away and use it for our AP renewals. We have done this during the free dining in the past and it works great for us. This way we get to save our DVC points for an extra trip.
