AP - Have Questions, Need Help!

Hi! We currently have AP's that expire in July 2005. We'll be using them twice before they expire. Now, we know that we can renew them upon expiration and get a discount. However, we don't know what the discount is. If the AP's expire on July 16th, does the renewal/activation kick in as of July 17? Or can we wait to activate them on arrival of our next trip which would be in Oct.?

Furthermore, is it a better savings to renew on the last day of our current AP's ... or to wait until Oct. to renew and forgo the savings? We usually get 4 trips to WDW out of the AP's. Mind you that two of the trips are 10+ days at WDW, so it's worth it as the cost of a 10 day pass is a bit more than the AP's ... and w/the AP's, we can get more bang for our buck even w/the extra $$ we dish out. I'd hate to "waste" that unused time between between July and our Oct. trip if we're not going to use it ... but if the savings (2 adults, 1 child) are worth it, then we'd consider renewing in July.

Suffice to say, we plan on getting AP's ... but don't know if it's worth it to do it when our current AP's expire ... or to wait until Oct. Can anyone offer any expert advice? We'd appreciate it!

The clock starts ticking as soon as your old AP expires, not when you return to WDW. Since you're not going until October, I'd wait until then and buy new ones. Otherwise, that's close to 3 months wasted on it.

I was in this very situation in Feb. I chose to forgo the 40.00 savings for an adult ap. and just buy new ones for our trip in jUne.

The savings for renewing the adult APs would be $42.60 each, the childs would be $36.21.
When would your trip be after your October '05 trip? If it's before July 17th, 2006 or your done with the parks by that day, then it probably better to renew it. If it's after, then your best to just buy new passes in October.

Thanks for the input ... looks like we'll just wait until our Oct. 05 trip and get new AP's. The savings isn't that incredible where we'd be saving loads.

ETA -- after our Oct. '05 trip, we prob. wouldn't be back until Jan or Feb '06, then hopefully again in May '06, another in July '06, and hopefully another in Oct. '06 before the AP's expire once more. So, I suppose it's better to wait out the 3 months and get new AP's in Oct. '05 rather than renew in July '05.
