AP,FP+, resort stay AND off site stay

So, here's my scenario. We have current AP's and a resort stay coming up Aug 2-9. All of our FP+'s are made for that trip. We are also heading down for a long weekend 30 days from now. I was able to book FP+'s for the first two days of that trip. Now though it tells me that I've maxed out my days. I thought I would be able to book 4 days in July, in addition to my 7 days in August with a resort stay. What am I misunderstanding?

You can only book 7 days in advance with the AP, except during a longer WDW resort stay.

I'm surprised that you can now book the 2 days in July.

Workaround:
Un-book FP+ for two of the "easiest" days of the Aug. trip, and see if you can book the rest of your July trip.
THEN, after your July trip, re-book the days for Aug.

Thanks Robo. The August trip is with a group of 17 so those FP+'s I don't dare touch. Only 4 of us are going in July and no high demand rides are necessary. So, I will wait and book the July FP+'s later. So, I can book more 7 days before the July trip? or will have to wait to book more as we use one days worth? Eg. Use current FP+ on Friday, July 17. When those are gone, book Sunday the 19th's passes?

You can book as many advanced FP+ for the Aug. trip as you have days booked at the resort.

But, since you already have over 7 days of FP+ booked for the Aug. trip,
I have no idea why you can book two advanced FP+ for the July trip.
So, I have no idea if you will be able to book any more after you have used one or both days of FP+ during the July trip.
