I'm buying AP s online for the whole family in the next few days. My youngest is 9 and will be turning 10 in a month.

She will be 10 when we go to US.

Do I need to buy the adult ticket for her?

Are you buying annual passes or tickets? There is no child discount on annual passes AFAIK, so children AP should be the same price as an adult one.

i went to check on the darkside website and didn't find the info needed.
went to mousesavers and this is the latest they have listed in order to answer child passes.
this info is from 2015 but was listed in the price section that was updated 1/25/16

op, maybe you should call universal guest services and ask them if it is allowable to buy the ap for a 9 year old at this point even if he is turning 10 by trip time.
they would have the vaid up to date information in their system.

Unless something has changed there has never been a price break for kids AP's.
Only difference is once they turn 10 a finger print is needed. However, the only reason I found this out is that I had to replace my sons pass during one of last years trips. They asked his age and he had been 10 for a while. He now does the finger scan when entering.

pcstang, glad you shared that.
i never bought my boys the ap when i took them.
would buy the special deals and many of them to cover when they would go with me.
i kept my ap renewed yearly to get the discounted hotel rooms and food/merch discounts.

i only put in the chart above as when i googled the question of children ap rates for the darkside, that came up.
it was from last year and the site which i noted.

hopefully the op will call guest services or send them an email and come back to share with us so we have current info on their policy.

They need the pass for the age they are when activated - not purchased. So whatever age the child is at the very first use. So, that would mean 10+.
