AP fastpass adding on the day

Hi, just a quick question about getting FP on the day.

We are annual pass holders with 7 days of FP reservations from 25th August. We arrive at about 5pm on 24th August, and was wondering even though we have our 7 days of FP can we still get FP for the 24th within the parks at a kiosk.

If you want to do that, you must cancel the 3 FP+ on one of the "days" coming up.

I really wish Disney would do something about that, too. I mean, we're APs, DVC members, and we live about 3 hours from the parks. We have two stays coming up, one 3 days, one 4. We'll be in the Disney area for one day we weren't expecting, and wanted to book FP for that day. We can't, without cancelling one of the days we already have scheduled. So, it looks like Disney loses out on money from us. We're going to try Fun Spot.
