My Sorcerer’s AP was set to expire on 4/24/22. I renewed it on 2/25/22 then activated and used it 2 weeks ago. Now on MDE under Membership and Passes it still says my pass expires on 2/24/23. A previous thread suggested that the expiration would change after I activated it. Should I just ignore this or is it a problem?

Before when you renewed it would show your current AP, then your renewal one which should start right after current one. I never had to activate a renewal just the initial AP.

Not sure what you mean by renewed & activated it?

Was it only an AP voucher you had that hadn't been activated yet?

I would be calling Disney if it was already an active AP that you renewed & it changed your date.

I agree - call the VIPassholder line, (407) 939-7277. Your new expiration date should be 4/24/23.

Yes it was already an active AP that we renewed. I’ll have to call. Thanks.

I was under the impression that we had to “activate” it again at guest services before we used it so we stopped there and he gave us new cards and made sure everything was linked properly.

Phone renewals are done in voucher (aka exchange certificate) form which must be activated before they become valid for park entry.

When you renew a pass, regardless of when you renew a pass, there is no activation required. Your renewal date is set (your pass expired 4-24-22). Your new pass automatically begins 4-25-22 through 4-24-23. You receive a 15% discount when renewing. You don't need to activate a renewal it is continual.

That explains it. If you renewed an existing active AP your renewal date is 1 year from the date your old one expired. It doesn't matter when you first use the new pass.

Yep. We had a phone renewal and we did have to go to guest services to activate it. Our gold APs expired 11/2021 and we activated our renewal on 12/29/2021. It converted to a Sorcerer AP and the expiration date adjusted itself to 11/2022 (as it should have).

Right but their AP was supposed to expire 4/2022 so the expiration should have been 4/2023. Somehow, it ended up as 2/2023.

OP, I would call and the passholder line and see if they can fix this. You don’t want your pass that should be expiring on 4/2023 to actually expire on the current listed expiration date of 2/2023.

I spoke to the Passholder line and he fixed it. He said that whoever renewed it in February was supposed to "butt it up against the 4/24 expiration date" but obviously didn't do it correctly and just gave me a year from purchase. So human error, I guess. He apologized for the inconvenience and was very nice.

I've always had to activate my gold pass renewals and provide proof of eligibility.
It may depend on if you are a Florida resident or not. As a DVC member, I always had to stop at guest services to activate our Gold Pass. Last year, had to do the same converting the Gold Pass to Sorcerers.

Glad you got that fixed. That was definitely worth calling about.

Yes, those of us with Gold/Sorcerer always have to activate them, because we have to show proof we are eligible for that type of pass.

FL Resident (all levels) and Tourist (non-discounted) Passes can be renewed online and those online renewals don't need to be activated. Only renewals by phone required activation.
