When you use your AP to reserve a room are there generally certain rooms that rarely/never get discounted?

I know there is usually a set discount for the values and the moderates.

For example, a tower room at the Contemporary or a lagoon view at the Poly? Since these rooms seem to be popular, are discounts hard to come by?

Thanks!

Usually the only rooms that do not seem to get the discounts are Suites, and the Allstar movies does not seem to get a lot of the discounts. Other than that they do release discounts for the Tower at the CR and lagoonview at the Poly (we just stayed in a lagoonview at the Poly with the AP rate this past Dec.)
As with any resort there are limited amount of rooms available with the discount, but they are out there.

I booked 8 nights Poly lagoon, castle view with AP for honeymoon in March for $400 a night, at disney.com it's $600 a night! :cool1:

Do the AP discounted rooms go fast? We're going for a week in October, and I'm waiting for the AP discounts to be published to see what kind of deal I can get. :hourglass

On a similar note, if I book now and want to upgrade or change rooms/resorts after the discounts are published, is it allowed? :confused3

TIA!

You can make your reservation now, but when the AP rates come out they generally will not apply the code to room per se. The fact that you have a room booked does not guarantee you a discount on your room if there are no discounts available.

Yes, I understand that...and we are going regardless of any discounts that are published later. However, IF a code becomes available, can I apply it to an existing reservation, or do I have to make a new reservation and cancel the first one?

Thanks for the information guys, looks like I will have to be quick to get one for June!

Generally you can not apply a code to an exisiting reservation, you must make a new reservation. What I was trying to say is that say you have a room at the Allstar Movies and a code comes out, if there are no discounts available for the Movies, you may have change your resort to say the POP where discounts would be available

Ahhhh...I just had a lightbulb moment! :woohoo: Thanks for the explanation!

I'm thinking about getting a AP

Can I get AP room discount rates, and buy the AP at the same time?

If I want to go in Sept.... I don't want to buy my AP now in February?
(or do I buy it now, watch for codes, book the trip, and then it doesn't start counting 365 days until I check-in in Sept?)

:confused3

Also... last time I went, I got the room, meals, and park ticket all on one card.

How many cards do AP owners have when they go to the Park
one for - hotel?
one for - parks?
one for - meal plan? (can you get the meal plan as a AP owner?)

Since the AP rate plans have changed so much in the last few months, I'm not sure anymore if you have to have at least a voucher in hand before booking an AP rate. But, I'm sure someone here will know. You could buy a voucher now, get any AP rates that pop up for Sept and then activate your voucher when you check in that Sept.
But, as far as cards go...you will have a room key, you will have an AP, unless you buy a package..then it is all on one card.
Now, as of right now, the only people who can get the DDP are those buying packages or those staying in a resort using DVC points. The plan you can buy if you have an AP is the Disney Dining Experience card. THat is $60 for one card. And you basically get 20% a lot of the meals in WDW.

You get AP voucher and it doesnt start counting until it is activated. Some say the voucher is :goodvibes over a yr. and it is still not counting until it is activated at the Park. Now I think some disney stores do sell AP's that are activated, I could be wrong on this one but something is telling me I remember reading this...

To the best of my knowledge, only the Disney Store at MCO sells activated APs. I've had AP vouchers for over a year before I activated them. If you know the price is going up, you can buy way ahead of time.

I thought you could apply the code to an existing reservation. I know that you have to take what the CM's tell you when you call with a "grain of salt", but he said that if the AP discounts come out then I could just back with my reservation number and it would be applied. I'm booked right now at Boardwalk @$384.00 per night and he said that if an AP rate came out it would be $284.00. Could someone explain this a little better to me pretty please? Thanks!
