that you want to use it? I'm going to buy it this coming trip and have some sit downs planned along with buying some souvenirs that should be discounted.

What do you mean? Do you mean using the AP discount while you're in restaurants or purchasing merchandise? If so, just tell them that you have an AP. They'll ask to see it plus ID and then put the discount through.

Ask EVERYONE if they give AP discounts. Even before this years special dining discounts, I would say "Do you offer AP or TiW discounts?" I actually was surprised a few times at places that gave me discounts I didn't expect. So no matter where I shop or buy, I ask them.

Note that if you buy bottled drinks etc in places like Emporium, Storybook Circus Tent etc, you get the AP Shopping discount on them. Every little bit adds up.

Yes, this. I only recently got this straight in my head.... kiosks = no discount, store = discount. I now seek out stores/gift shops for water vs kiosks/small stands. Only took me 2 years of APs to get this right. :-)

But OP, I agree with the others, I’ve gotten in the habit of asking every time.

My wife had her AP slider on her MB in September when we went. Some CM's noticed it and gave her the discount while some she had to ask.

This can happen but isn't supposed to. The rule is the AP card and ID must be shown. A few CM will see the slider and give the discount but it can't be counted on

For resorts....I have a AP on my MDE account. I was able to get AP rate online.
Yes, for resorts. OP wasn't asking about resorts.

It was asked in the resort section and it was just a bit of added info that they may have not known about. Heck I didn’t know fully how AP worked.

I didn't say that they give the discount solely on having the slider on, but the OP just asked how the CM's know. Some can tell by the slider being on the band. For those that haven't used the discount and might forget about it till after they pay the bill and leave, having the slider on their MB might be enough for them to remember or it might be just enough for the CM to see and ask if they have their card. I highly recommend they put it on just for those reasons. A couple times though, she did get the discount without having to take out her card. Depends on the CM and how busy/if a boss is near/etc....
