AP discount VS dining plan

No opinion here but a thanks for asking the question. We just decided that APs are a better fit for us then 10 day non expiring. I would hate to have to tell my kids no we can't go to the park today mommy is trying to save days.

My next thing was DxDDP vs TIW especially since we want to try a bunch of signature dining places.

Now if you don't mind me asking is the TIW card worth it even if you can't use if for 2 days of your 7-8 day trips? We go over Christmas and it looks like it can not be used CHristmas Eve and Christmas day. Now can you still use DVC discount those days or are they blacked out as well?

I WISH that we could use the TiW. As others have said, it seems more flexible and you can order what you want, still getting a discount. I even calculated buying the AP to get it, but we don't come out ahead (for an 8 day stay).

Maybe I'm crunching the numbers wrong!

ETA Does TiW give discounts on CS and snacks, too, or just TS? Maybe I am crunching the numbers wrong!

We have used both. The Deluxe DP can work well if you use 2TS for signature restaurants and your other 1TS for breakfast or lunch each day (two meals a day is more manageable food wise) and if for a short period (ie. if you had a split stay use the DDP for the first three nights and your credits are still good on the fourth night, then go off the plan for the second part of your trip and eat at non-signature places). Use TIW to help with your bar tab (which for us is always substantial ).

We've done the dining plan and just recently purchased the TIW card, and found that the TIW card worked out much better for us.

Does the TIW discount work at the carts for popcorn? champagne in Epcot? or just sit down meals? what about the counter services places? Pecos Bills, Columbia house, etc or grabbing a bottle of water or an icecream? Thanks

i don't think at the carts. but most of the CS/TS places honor it. http://allears.net/din/dde.htm have a look at this. at the end shows the restaurants that honor the TIW.

There are only a few CS places that honor the TiW. Pizzafari and Flame Tree in AK, and the food courts in the Value resorts (since they don't have TS restaurants) do. None of the CS or carts in Epcot do. Nor do the CS places in MK - specifically, it's not honored at Pecos Bill or Columbia House.

Also, most of the bar/lounge areas in the resorts also honor it.

Thanks, I new it was almost too good to be true that it would work at the CS places!! IF it did, it would be a no-brainer!!
