Has anyone been able to use an AP discount with there 3 year olds pass? Our family had passes last year and we did not renew, but my 3 year old still has a pass, because she turned 3 in the middle of our passes. I was told by a cast member over the phone that because she is not the one paying we can't use the discount. Im guessing this is accurate, but wondered if anyone had any other experience?

When we had passes and I would accidentally grab my boyfriend's pass instead of mine, we had a CM tell us they could get in trouble if the name on the pass doesn't match the name on the card being used. If you were paying cash, maybe? But a 3 year old wouldn't be the one paying for anything anyways.

What we have done in the past is get a gift card and use that. It was usually the kids (who had APs, but were teens) and their dad who didn't have an AP. He would buy a gift card, then when he wanted something, he'd have the kids use the gift card to buy it.

I was able to use my daughter’s pass for most of 2016-2017 when she had a better pass than me. I’d show my ID (the last name matched, and once or twice the CM would then ask her her name and/or if I was her mom). But usually it wasn’t an issue at all.

They do usually make sure the person whose AP it is does the paying, but at least in practice, I never had trouble using hers.

When my daughter had an AP and I didn't, whenever I'd get to that point in the transaction I'd pull her AP out and then ask nicely if I could use my daughter's. She was always there so it wasn't like I was trying to scam them. I never had anyone say no, so it's absolutely worth asking!

It is true that the CMs can get in trouble if the name on the AP and method of payment don't match. To be safe for CMs and the guests in question, it is probably better to use cash or gift cards for payment. Then no one risks getting in trouble.

Well maybe, my kids save their allowances up to buy stuff.

I think if Disney sells a childs annual pass with the benefit of an AP discount then they should allow, when the child is present, for it to be used.

You could always put the child on as an authorized user on your credit card account? Then you have a name that matches the AP on the payment method and you still get the reward points for your credit card account :cool1:. Just always keep the card in your control.

Or pay via NFC. There's no name to check against for that.

Just a couple of other options other than gift card and cash.

Disney wasn't always this strict about things like this. They've had to crack down as more people abuse the system. It only takes a few (or not so few) bad apples to make things tougher for everyone else.

Apple Pay form your phone.

Yes jut get gift cards. My family used my pass for many qs restaurants but they had to either pay with GC or I had to pay. It depends on the CM too i think.

So we are going next week. I think I am going to go to my local Fred Meyer and buy several hundred dollars worth of Disney Gift cards and try to use that while there with her AP. I hope it works. Ill let everyone know how my experience goes. Thanks for the recommendations!!!

Ugh. This is giving me PTSD to being a young teen and being asked for ID to prove it was my pass.

I remember straight up telling a cashier one time "I don't have a driver's license, I'm 14." She asked if I had a parent and I said "I'm here on a school trip, so no." And she just stared at me for awhile confused.

Sorry, not sorry. She also told me a school ID isn't a valid ID, so. Not sure what she was expecting.

That's really interesting. One time, my son was questioned as he used his AP to enter the park - the picture was from when he was 8 (first year with passes) and he was then about 15? He showed his school ID and they let him in, but told him to get a new picture taken. I guess it really depends on the CM.:worried:
