AP Discount Question

I am trying to get my budget set up for my trip the first week of Oct. I plan on upgrading to a DAP. I know they extended the merchandise discount and am excited about that! My question is about things like tigger tails, and those kinds of treats- do they do the AP discount on those things?

Yes they do, but I believe that there is a $10.00 minimum purchase... We tend to spend more than $10.00, so it has never been an issue for us.

Just like what the pp said, you have to spend at least $10 to get the merchandise AP discount. I have bought food and drinks under $10 at certain restaurants so it won't be a problem with the treats.

Awesome! Thanks- I promised each of my daycare children a cheshire tail so will definitly be spending more than $10 :)

I too have a question...when dining, will the server ask if you are AP holders? Do you have to volunteer that? And if so, when?

CM waiters sometimes ask if you have a AP card or not. But when I dine at DL, they always ask me if I have an AP card. Maybe because I have my AP in my lanyard. They ask if you have an AP card when you get the check and pay for your meal.

At counter service, they usually ask, but if they don't, you just show them your pass. At table service, I just put it in the book with my credit card.

They don't always ask. We ate at Cafe Orleans last week and weren't asked for our AP... and I forgot to give it to the waitress! :headache: I HATE when that happens! I also had to give it to cashiers at several stores.

The treats at Disneyland are a funny thing. Treats from the candy shops in Disneyland and DCA and Marceline's don't count as "food" but instead as "merchandise". So the discount that kicks in there is the merchandise discount, not the food one. Before the repeatedly extended AP discount, only premium AP holders would get a discount in the candy shops, and that discount was 10%. Because of the current AP merchandise discount, premium APs get 20% off candy shop purchases, and everyone else gets 10%. I too have noticed that the $10 minimum purchase is usually enforced for merchandise purchases but doesn't seem to be the rule for food purchases at the restaurants.

You are right that the treats at the gift shops count as merchandise than the food discount. It is nice that DLR extended the AP discount rate for all the AP holders.

Oh yeah, I'm loving the discount. Somehow it makes it easier to buy more stuff we don't need. :rotfl2: And we never have any trouble getting up to $10 in the candy stores.
