AP Discount Question

If I were to purchase an AP and book a room with an AP discount would everyone staying in the room need to have an AP as well?

Thinking of purchases an AP for myself and booking the room at a discount. We would then purchase regular tickets for my family. Then at the end of the trip if we think we have had enough Disney for awhile we will just leave their tickets as is. If we decide another trip the same year is in order we could upgrade their tickets to APs as well before we depart.

Anything wrong with the scenario?

Second Question. I think I read that APs allow same day admission to more than one park so in effect are like a "Park Hopper". Am I right on that?

I think only the primary person who books and stays in the room must have an AP ... others could simply get the regular passes.

Yes, an AP is just like a Hopper ... as many parks per day as you wish

We are a party of 7 - 5 adults, 1 teen, and 1 infant.

Excluding the infant, do we all have to have an annual pass to book 2 discounted rooms and add the dinning plan?
