AP Discount Question

We are planning on buying at AKV in May. I want to get the DVC discount, but will have to get my AP's prior to meeting with my guide. Can I get the AP at regular price and then get a refund? I already have AKL booked with an AP rate. I'm not sure what to do. Any opinions?

We did that last November. We purchased annual passes ahead of time and had even used several days before buying DVC. We took our temporary membership card and annual passes to a ticket window. ( I don't remember if it was a regular one or guest services-just ask!). They refunded us the discount (almost $400 for our 2 adult and 2 kid passes. Needless to say we were VERY excited as we didn't even plan on purchasing DVC. They just refunded the money back to the credit card I used to purchase the tickets.

You were very lucky because the CM made an exception for you. Disney policy is not to issue any refunds on tickets. There were a few reports of refunds being issued when the discount first became available. After that, we heard reports of members being told no, and there was also a post by a Disney CM that said they are not supposed to issue refunds. Anyway, I don't think anyone should count on getting a refund now -

I would change the meeting with the Guide so you take care of that as soon as you arrive. Then you can purchase your AP's and know you will have the discount applied.
