I know u guys will know the info on this. If I book with an ap my room 6 nights to get discount code. Can I book one night hooked to resessie for all of us with dinning and get the dinning for all 6 nights.?I noticed people with ap were doing something with a one night also w/there reservation. There's something here I am missing & I just cant get my overworked, overstressed mind to wrap around it right now and I need to finalize my DW plans. My husband just has to stay on Monrail track but I need to cut cost but I NEED the dining, we did it last time and We all loved it, We got to go places we would not have went otherwise it was kinda like a new adventure, another aspect of the parks(lots of charcter meals, top of tower CT for anniver, etc..) I need the real in and out experts to help me figure this out, just trying to make this work for everyone BUT this trip is kinda on a tighter budget.

You have to pay rack rate to get the dining plan, unless you get a AAA discounted package.

Unfortunately, us AP holders, have to give up the room discount, and pay rack rate if we want the free dining, or pay for the dining plan. What you may have seen is that AP holders booking packages (esp. Aug/Sep), trying to get out of the ticket restrictions. What most of us do is buy a one day ticket and use it towards our AP renewal or the purchase of a new AP. Sorry to say, no room discounts with the dining plan. In our case, for the free dining, it was easy to pay rack rate at Pop for free dining. The AP discount would probably only save $25 a night, and we got $100 a day worth of dining. It didn't take long to figure out the better deal on that promotion. I gladly paid full price for my room and bought the one day ticket.

So could DH and I book a package with one day tickets, then when we get to WDW go to a ticket window and trade in our one day tickets for a Seasonal Pass?

Seasonal passes are only for FL residents. You can do this with an AP or PAP, though.

Yes - I am doing this in September. Note that you'd have to upgrade directly through Disney Guest Services so you'd lose the AAA SAP discount if you are used to getting that.

Does anyone know what the cost of an AP would be if I used the one day base tickets (will have 3 of them) and upgrade? That might be the best way for me to go.

It is the cost of the renewal less the cost of the ticket. From what O now you can only use one ticket agianst the upgrade, that what the AP office told me.

Huh? I thought that we couldn't get the AAA discount with free dining. Has that changed?

I don't think the OP or the subsequent poster were necessarily talking about FREE dining. I think the point being made was that the only way to be able to purchase the dining is to pay rack or get an AAA discount by booking the package through AAA.

To answer the OP's question, there is currently no way to get an AP discount on a room and also be eligible to purchase the dining package, that I'm aware of. The cost of an adult AP is about $442 (assuming it's not a renewal). The value of a one-day base ticket is about $67. You'll only be able to upgrade one MYW base ticket for each AP you purchase, so if you only need one AP to get the discount, it should cost you an additional approximatley $375, which includes tax.

Thanks, I understand now. Still, it's time to purchase APs, so I might as well use the base against the AP price.
