I hope I post this in the right section...please feel free to move this if it belongs somewhere else.

I have an Annual Pass. I know that some very good room-only discounts are given to AP holders but have never used them because we have DVC. Are we allowed to book rooms for others with the AP discount? My parents (who do not have APs nor will be going to the parks at all) will be joining us next February but will be arriving several days before we do. We will all be staying in a 2BR at AKV once we arrive, but I was wondering if I could book an AP discounted room for them to stay before we get there. We would not be present when they check in, but could mail them the AP in advance.

I am not looking to cheat Disney in any way, just wondering if this is even possible. Any feedback is welcome.

I don't think this is possible. Your AP is linked to your name, your name must be on the reservation, and you must be present at check-in or show the AP within a day or two of booking. Mailing them the AP won't do it since it's in your name.

I just booked with an AP discount and the confirmation says "Proof of valid Passholder ID required at check-in".

There is the possiblility they would just hold your parents credit card and if you didnt show up with your AP they would charge your parents card rack rate for the room.

I have used my AP on numerous occasions and have never once been asked to show my AP ticket or to verify my membership in any way. That doesn't mean Disney doesn't check membership though. Who knows what goes on behind the scenes!

I don't think I've ever had to show mine either, I've just assumed it was linked to my name somehow. I've always had to show my drivers license.

We booked one nite first of October at CSR before moving to BCV with my passholder AP. DH went to check us in and had to come get me to show my AP. We had to dig it out of the car. The front desk was really nice but firm that I had to show it. I've had an AP for 5 years and we go 3-4 times per year. Usually at least once per year I've been asked to show it and its always when DH checks us in and I've buried the tickets in the trunk.
