I have room only rack rate reservations for 6 days in June at CBB. I have 4 5 day UT tickets currently. I want to upgrade to AP at the park and then apply the discount to my room. The discount will still be valid when I arrive. Cast member said I would have to check availability. I don't see why. I have the room and the discount is not tied to prior reservations. Has anyone tried this?

There are limited number of rooms (and room type varies) available with the discount and if you wait until you arrive that room may not be available anymore. You can however book with the AP discount before getting your AP. You will just need to upgrade and show them that you have it within 24 hours of checking in. We've done that before.

Dis703 is correct. There's also a bit more.

Any time you modify a reservation, at least one additional room of the same type has to be available. You aren't allowed to rebook the room you are already holding at a lower rate.

It doesn't matter that you are already holding a room - A SECOND room in the SAME category you want(already have) has to be available.

I always check online to see before I try to rebook. HOWEVER- there may be more vacancy than you can readily see online, so it often pays to call.
