AP discount at Vero Beach?

I have booked 3 nights at Vero Beach and will use my Disney Club discount if there is nothing better. Is there an Annual Pass discount or any other way of getting better than 20% off?

It's harder to get a discount at Vero Beach than it is at WDW. I think you are fortunate to have secured a DC discount. We were unable to do so (even thugh we booked almost a year in advance and checked back often) for late November/early December (in 2001) and mid-February (2002).

I have not ever seen any AP discounts for VB.

In previous years, there has also been an offer for VB (and HHI) in Birnbaum's Official Guide to WDW. I don't know if there is one for 2003. IIRC, it was for up to 25% off rack rate. There are certain blackout periods for that, though.

As you probably know, VB is a DVC resort. If you are comfortable doing so, you might rent a reservation from a DVC member. If you want to do that, check out the DVC Rent/Trade Forum. Here's the link to that:

They had a special offer for AP holders last year-I don't remember the rate. It was on mousesavers. I called to book a room for a friend and they didn't have DC discount, Birnbaum or AP available-I called back later in the day and they had the Birnbaum offer available-25%. They knew the code for the AP discount-all I did was mention it. They didn't even have an ocean view room available for May and 10 minutes later they did.

You really have to check periodically-it changes all the time.

If you already have a discount, I would say stick with it because they sometimes are hard to get dependin on when you are going.

There is a discount on mousesavers.com right now. A studio for AP holders 1/7-2/5/03 $109 per night.

It may be offered after the spring break time as well.

Thank you for your replies. I am not travelling until November so it is too early to find good discounts. I didn't actually book using the Disney Club discount as the CM told me it was more complicated to apply a better discount to a DC booking than an ordinary booking. If the DC is not certain then maybe i should use it now in case I can't get a better rate and end up paying full price.

The CM was incorrect. You should take the discount when you get it. The Disney Club discount can be booked right now if they have rooms available. I booked a room for November using the Disney Club discount.

The Birnbaum offer is also available for booking-you do not have to wait to book that. It is in the 2003 Birnbaum Walt Disney World-Official Guide-@ $15.00 at your local bookstore. This is blacked out for the days surrounding Thanksgiving. Is that when you are going.

I called to make a res for MIL the other day at VB and was told there were no rooms available and no discounts-for May. I called back a little later and they had the type of room I wanted and I booked it with the Birnbaum discount.

It is not too complicated to switch your res if you make it with the DC discount and then switch to something else. When I made a res for Nov. with the DC discount I still received the same 12 digit confirmation number-had to make one night's deposit and would have no problem switching if some better offer came along.

VB is not like WDW with the codes coming out all the time...take whatever discount you can get now and watch mousesavers.com for a possible AP rate.

I think you will be able to get a good rate. We have been 2X, paid cash (even thought we are DVC members we did not want to use our points) and both times got great rates. Once we were booked at one rate and when we got there at check-in, we asked about the Birnbaum rate and got it on the spot. This all depends on the time of year and if you are going during Thanksgiving I don't know what discounts would be available then if any. It never hurts to ask and it's always a good idea to keep looking.
