AP discount at Grand Floridian

I just purchased DVC Member Annual Passes (I am not currently a AP holder), which I will activate when we visit WDW in March.

I also want to make reservations for an early December 2005 visit to the Grand Floridian (I decided to pay cash instead of using DVC Points).

Can get the Annual Pass discount if I make a reservation at the Grand Floridian now, or do I have to wait until I activate the Annual Pass.

If I have to wait, should I make the reservation now, and try and get an AP discount after I active them.

Has anyone used an AP discount at one of the Hotels. If so, are the AP Discounts worthwhile?

And one last question. I know that when I booked my Disney Cruise, it was much less at All Seas Travel. Is it also less expensive for Grand Floridian rooms through a TA rather than directly from Disney.

Thanks for everyones help. I have never done this before, so I am looking for direction.

AP rates are released a few months out so for a December visit you will have to wait quite a while to try to apply an AP discount. You could make your reservation at any time though and later call to add the AP discount if/when they become available.

If you aren't able to get the discount when AP rates are first released, don't give up. Also you can sometimes get a few days at first and may have to call back for all your days.

The AP discounts are great. We love combining a stay at the Polynesian or GF at a AP discounted rate with a BCV stay on points.

Your AP does not have to be activated to make the reservation at an AP rate but you may be asked for it at checkin. In your case, that won't be an issue.

Annual Pass discounts do not come out that far in advance. It will probably be at least late summer before they release AP discounts for December. Right now they are out through 4/16/05. You do not have to have an activated AP to make the reservation, you just need it at check-in.
