AP DDP DDE Question

I'm confused again.
AP holders do get some kind of discounts for WDW at places to eat, right? I know they do in DLR, so I'm guessing they also do in WDW
Disney Dining Plan is where you pay like 38.00 a day and get to eat a full days' worth..or so..at various locations, and anyone can buy them, is that right? Is there a discount with the DVC card? It seems like renters need to have the DVC person get the dining plan for them, but I thought it was available to anyone?
Disney Dining Experience is basically a discount card worth 20 % off at many places, is that right?
Now...by reading the posts it seems you need to be a AP holder to get the DDE, but I may be wrong. If you already get discounts at some places with just the AP why pay extra for DDE? Is the discount that much greater and can you use it more places?

Also..does anyone know the DVC discount for Disneyland AP? And I don't think so, but does DL have any kind of DDP or DDE?

I have never used DDP, but I am an AP holder with the DDE. The AP does give some discounts, primarily for lunch. DVC card also gives some but not as good as DDE. DDE gets you 20% off your entire check at most table service restaurants. That includes beverages! We love our DDE. Yes, you do need to be an AP holder to purchase DDE.

Ok here we go:

DDE you must be an AP or Fl resident to get it. 20% off most TS, and some CS (Artist Palette and Flame Tree BBQ to name 2) including alcholic beverages.

AP & DVC discounts are generally 10%. DVC is more flexible and some discounts are 15-20%, AP is mostly lunches and does not include alcholic beverages.

DDP is only available to the general public as part of a package. DVC members may get it for themselves or their guests, but the member must order it. There is no discount for it. It must be bought for the length of reservation, and for all people staying in the room.

We've never done DDP, we don't use a lot of CS meals and when we've done the math for our family with what we eat on our trips, it makes more sense for us to just use our AP, DVC or DDE discount. We got our DDE in June and broke even on it by the 3rd day of our 10 day trip. We'll use it again for our Dec trip and our March trip.

Whether that is right "...depends on what the meaning of 'is' is," in our former president's delicate parsing.

DDP is $38.99 for adults and $10.99 for kids per night of your stay for the remainder of 2007. That gets you one table service meal with appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage, plus an 18% gratuity on this meal only; one counter service meal with non-alcoholic beverage and dessert; and one snack for each night of your stay.

For stays starting in 2008, the price is reduced one dollar for each category, but both the appetizer and gratuity are no longer included on the TS meals. That's a huge price increase, not a price reduction.

Regardless of year, all members of your party must have DDP for each night of your stay. "...anyone can buy them" -- nope. DDP credits are not transferrable. Only the DDP participants can use the credits, so you can't purchase a meal for someone else with DDP.

Is there a discount with the DVC card?

No, the price and terms of the DDP are the same. However, DDP is available for DVC points stays only without a required ticket purchase.

Anything having to do with a DVC points reservation must be processed through DVC Member Services, and MS will speak only to DVC owners. Therefore, not only DDP arrangements, but also DME, room requests, etc must be made by the owner. With DDP, the owner makes the arrangements and the renter pays for DDP in full on checkin. You don't have to prepay like you do with regular DDP, but many families consider that a negative rather than a positive because they like to have their food paid before they leave on vacation.

DDP is available to anyone on many cash reservations. It is not usually available, however, for discounted rooms. In a cash reservation, DDP can only be added as part of a package -- a certain room rate, at least a one-day base park ticket for each person in the party, and DDP for each person for each day of the reservation.

Several reasons: 1) the cost of the DDE card is relatively low, and the discount is double; 2) the DDE discount applies to alcoholic beverages -- the only discount that applies to alcohol; 3) Unlike the DDP, with the DDE card, you can get the 20% discount for up to ten people at the same meal, as long as the cardholder is present and everything is on one check. That last benefit is obviously huge for family gatherings, or in situations where part of the group wants DDP and part of the group doesn't.

To be eligible for the DDE card, you must be either an AP holder or a Florida resident. DVC ownership does not qualify you as a Florida resident, so DVC members are not eligible for DDE unless they meet one of those criteria.

I'm not positive, but I believe the answers are no, and no.
