awe bummer. We dont arrive until 10/3 and my niece and nephews AP's (who we are bringing with us on the trip) are blocked out on 10/2 anyway so there's no point in arriving a day earlier.

Is it worth going out the way for? I am planning on visiting in October and December, but could go up during the event if it is unique and worth going there specifically for that.

AP days are ok and if you are going to be there its nice to go see but, I would not plan a trip around them.
